Direct passenger flights to North Iceland will jet off from Teesside within the next few months - in what the airline claims is a UK first. Short-break specialist Super Break has announced three “bucket list” epic Arctic experiences with exclusive flights to Akureyri, North Iceland, from Durham Tees Valley. It follows on from the success of its ‘Incredible Iceland’ breaks last winter . The expanded programme of getaways starts from February 2019, and guests can “genuinely go off the beaten track” with exclusive four-night experiences and luxury options including “five-star accommodation” and “mouth-watering cuisine”. Akureyri has “previously been unreachable” direct from UK airports, the company says. Luxury options include brewery tours, tastings and a visit to a local farm to try fresh dishes for an “indulgent escape”. At long last it feels as though summer has finally arrived. With Merseyside cautiously swapping jumpers and coats for t-shirts and blouses as the days get warmer, we can finally start planning for summer. Luckily we live in an area where there is plenty to keep us occupied over the warmer months (however long they may last).
