Imperial Tobacco's former Horizon factory in Nottingham will be demolished and replaced with industrial buildings as part of a £60 million bid to redevelop the site. Henry Boot Developments (HBD), which is responsible for the project, said the development will cover 28 acres and provide up to 500,000sq ft of new buildings, a move which could create more than 500 jobs. The company is currently seeking planning permission to press ahead with the development, which will be called New Horizon. The site in Thane Road, which was sold to HBD last year, was home to Imperial Tobacco UK's production and distribution facility from the late 1960s until 2016, when production moved overseas. Since buying the site, HBD has undertaken work to improve the retained distribution warehouse, which is still home to Imperial Tobacco. Augustinians had the Mayor of Calderdale, Ferman Ali, fighting their corner as they stated their case for a return to the Spenser Wilson Halifax League last night. Dumbarton’s £13.5million football stadium bid booted out
Councillors have called offside on Dumbarton Football Club’s controversial bid to build a new 4,000-capacity stadium on the outskirts of the town. West Dunbartonshire Council members voted 10-9 against the £13.5 million proposal which also included building community sports facilities and 200 new homes on the site at Young’s Farm off Renton Road. The decision was taken at Wednesday’s full council meeting in Clydebank. Following the meeting, the club said in a statement: “Dumbarton Football Club notes the decision by West Dunbartonshire Council to reject the planning application for a new stadium to be sited at Young’s Farm. “While disappointed at this outcome, the club will take time to plan its next move going forward. “The club will be making no further comment at this moment in time.” Councillors heard at the meeting that there had been 10 objectors to the plan with 18 letters of support from the public. They were also given a presentation on careers in the industry, which highlighted employment opportunities available in civil engineering, ground engineering and site investigation. Goldman and Wellcome Trust team up for £1.2bn Network Rail bid
Goldman Sachs has joined forces with Britain's biggest medical research charity to table a £1.2bn bid for a vast commercial property estate owned by Network Rail.
