In policy terms there certainly are similarities, although Mr Sanders sits somewhat to the right of Mr Corbyn. He identifies himself as a "social democrat". Senator Bernie Sanders has apologised to female staff who claimed they faced sexual harassment while working on his 2016 presidential campaign. The allegations were first reported in the New York Times, with a number of women coming forward to detail allegations of unwanted sexual advances and claims of pay disparities. Mr Sanders, who is considering a second run for the presidency, apologised on Wednesday "to any woman who felt that she was not treated appropriately." "Of course, if I run again, we will do better next time," he told CNN. None of the allegations directly involve Mr Sanders, who was sworn in as Vermont's senator on Thursday after being re-elected in the midterm elections.
