UK’s daily Covid cases rise by just 4% in a week with 2,472 infections while deaths spike slightly to 23

· April 13, 2021 ·

Covid cases and deaths in the UK rose slightly today, with another 2,472 infections and 23 deaths confirmed by Department of Health officials. The numbers mark increases of 3.9 per cent and 15 per cent, respectively, on last Tuesday's figures but the daily average remains significantly lower than this time last week. Although rising numbers are generally bad news, Boris Johnson said today that it was 'inevitable' this would happen as lockdown rules get loosened. Officials are expected to take a more relaxed view of cases increasing now that half the UK population has been vaccinated. The Prime Minister said: 'As we unlock, the result will inevitably be that we will see more infection, sadly we will see more hospitalisation and deaths, and people have just got to understand that.' Dr Simon Clarke, an infectious disease expert at the University of Reading, said yesterday that numbers are not ‘guaranteed to go down’ and that a rise in numbers now could be a result of socialising … [Read more...] about UK’s daily Covid cases rise by just 4% in a week with 2,472 infections while deaths spike slightly to 23

Elon Musk’s controversial Neuralink brain chips could be implanted in humans THIS year

· April 13, 2021 ·

ELON Musk's brain chip start-up could begin inserting technology into people's minds later this year. The implants built by California-based Neuralink will one day allow those with physical disabilities to control a computer with their thoughts. The company released a video last week of a brain-chipped monkey apparently playing video games with its mind. Similar technology could make its way to human test subjects by the end of the year if the start-up meets a previous prediction from Musk. The billionaire Tesla boss tweeted in February: "Neuralink is working super hard to ensure implant safety & is in close communication with the FDA. "If things go well, we might be able to do initial human trials later this year." Founded in 2016, Neuralink is developing implantable brain chips that are inserted into regions of the mind that control movement. The company says the technology will one day help people with paralysis to control smartphones and computers with … [Read more...] about Elon Musk’s controversial Neuralink brain chips could be implanted in humans THIS year

Coldplay album edges closer after legal wrangle over Music Of The Spheres

· April 6, 2021 ·

SIXTEEN months after their last release and following more than a year of lockdown misery for the music business, COLDPLAY look set to be back with a bang soon. I revealed in February how the band had teased the name of a prospective new album, Music Of The Spheres, on some editions of their chart-topping 2019 collection Everyday Life. They then applied to trademark Music Of The Spheres. Since then, things have continued to swirl behind the scenes. Official documents now show the band have formally applied to use the name on recorded music, merchandise, clothing and printed materials in the US. Paperwork Stateside shows Chris Martin , Jonny Buckland , Guy Berryman and Will Champion are currently stuck in a legal wrangle with officials over the use of the branding. Records show the application was initially declined, but is now “suspended” until a patent is secured in the UK — which appears imminent after their claim to the name was published by the Intellectual … [Read more...] about Coldplay album edges closer after legal wrangle over Music Of The Spheres

Harvey Price sobs and begs Carl Woods to stop winding him up over precious carrot cake

· April 13, 2021 ·

Katie Price has shared on several occasions that her son Harvey Price's favourite treat is carrot cake. The former glamour model, 42, often allows the 18-year-old to enjoy his favourite gateau and on Tuesday the mother-of-five shared just how "protective" he is over the tasty cake if anyone else tries to eat it. Taking to Instagram , to demonstrate just how much Harvey adores carrot cake, she uploaded a video where her boyfriend Carl Woods teased Harvey, who is autistic and partially blind , by joking that he was going to dive into the yummy snack. In the footage, Carl's hand can be seen grasping the boxed cake and rustling the packaging. Harvey heard Carl, 31, messing about with the box and shouts out with his voice cracking: "No! No, don’t wind me up, Carl!" Carl then apologises, as he adds: "Alright sorry!" Proving just how annoyed Harvey is at knowing that his mum's partner may get to the cake before him he then can be heard yelling: "Don’t f**king touch!" … [Read more...] about Harvey Price sobs and begs Carl Woods to stop winding him up over precious carrot cake

‘I changed my baby’s name for my sister but now she’s demanding I change it again’

· April 13, 2021 ·

When it comes to siblings, things can sometimes get tricky - especially when one wants something the other has. And while most adults can solve their problems in a mature and respectful manner, there are still some who don't like not getting their way and it can end badly. One woman claims to be experiencing this right now and took to Reddit to share her frustration with her sister after an argument. The unnamed woman is currently pregnant and posted on the Am I The A**hole forum to say that her sister keeps expecting her to change her baby's name, so that she can have it instead. Using fake names in her post, the mum-to-be wrote: "AITA for not changing my baby's name AGAIN after I changed it for my sister once already? "I have a nine-year-old daughter, and another on the way. I had two grandmothers Annie and Rose. I named my oldest Annabelle, after nanny Annie, whose full name was also Annabelle. "I did not name her after nana Rose as at the time she was born, … [Read more...] about ‘I changed my baby’s name for my sister but now she’s demanding I change it again’
