Peaky Blinders brings back huge character for sixth series as actress spotted filming

· April 10, 2021 ·

Peaky Blinders is bringing back a hugely important character for its sixth and final series, after a snapper spotted actress Aimee-Ffion Edwards reprising her role as Esme Shelby. Esme is the widow of John Shelby (Joe Cole) who was tragically murdered in series four by the Italian mafia, and she took his rings and escaped with their children, and has not been seen on the show since. But new photos from the set show Esme following her brother-in-law Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) out of a graveyard following a heated discussion. Peaky Blinders season six has just wrapped up filming in Bolton, months after creator Stephen Knight announced that it would be the final series. Knight confirmed the news back in January but said "the story will continue in another form" and it seems he believes it can do so without Tommy. "In the form it is in, it is absolutely impossible for this to work without Cillian," Knight explained. "As it grows and progresses, who knows? Arab countries are adapting Ramadan traditions to pandemic

· January 11, 2021 ·

The month of Ramadan begins on Monday for some countries in the Americas and on Tuesday for most of the rest of the world. The exact starting time depends on the visibility of the new crescent moon, with the majority of Muslim countries following Saudi Arabia's sighting of the new moon, which would be on Tuesday. Ramadan, also spelled Ramazan or Ramzan, is the most important month in the Islamic calendar, when Muslims believe that God revealed the first verses of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. In this second year of the pandemic , regulations for Ramadan have had to be adapted. Limited space and restrictions To curb the number of infections, most countries have reduced the number of visitors at mosques to 20-30% of their usual capacity. Also wearing masks will be mandatory. In order to further avoid gatherings outside mosques, the traditional meals before sunrise and after sunset, Suhur and Iftar, which were often shared in public Ramadan tents, are banned throughout the … [Read more...] about Arab countries are adapting Ramadan traditions to pandemic

Son wins £1million after mum leaves fortune to new lover 37 years her junior

· February 3, 2021 ·

An Oxford don who sued after his elderly mum fell for a woman half her age and disinherited him has been handed a payout of almost £1m by a top judge. Professor Christopher Gosden said his loving mum Dr Jean Weddell, a medical doctor, had vowed in 2003 to leave him her Edwardian London home. But instead the director of the Institute of Archaeology at Oxford University was left with nothing when she died in 2013. That was after she fell in love with Wendy Cook, a barrister 37 years her junior, with whom Dr Weddell formed a civil partnership in 2007, at the age of 78. By the time she died in 2013, she had made a new will, handing nothing to her son but leaving much of her estate to her new partner. The professor later discovered that his mum's home - now worth £1.25m - had been sold without his knowledge in 2010 and that by the time she died three years later, there was just £5,000 left in her estate. Professor Gosden launched a court fight, claiming that a trust scheme his … [Read more...] about Son wins £1million after mum leaves fortune to new lover 37 years her junior

New fissure spews rock and lava from Hawaii volcano

· May 14, 2018 ·

A huge new fissure has opened in Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, threatening homes with lava bombs and rocks hurled into the air. The 300m long crack, which opened with a deafening screech, is the 17th and one of the biggest fissures to have emerged since the volcano began erupting on 3 May. Those living nearby said it continues to hurl 45kg chunks of lava and rock into the air while spewing smoke and steam and emitting a near-constant roar. Hundreds of people living near the volcano have been ordered to evacuate the area and dozens of homes have been destroyed by explosions and slow moving lava. But some residents are refusing to leave in spite of the danger. Advertisement "The situation down there remains dynamic and as we've been saying for days now the outbreaks can continue to occur both uprift and downrift of the existing fissure system, or the existing fissures could be reactivated," Tina Neal, the scientist in charge of Hawaii's volcano … [Read more...] about New fissure spews rock and lava from Hawaii volcano
