Older adults who used the internet just ONCE a day during lockdown reported lower depression and a better quality of life

· April 22, 2021 ·

It's often associated with younger people, but a new study suggests that the internet may also offer important mental health benefits for older adults. Researchers found that among people aged 55 to 75, those who used the internet once or more a day during lockdown to communicate with loved ones reported lower depression and a higher quality of life. The team hopes the findings will encourage older people to use the internet more often, especially given the fact that the older demographic is particularly vulnerable to loneliness. · April 22, 2021 ·

A WOMAN has revealed how she transformed her dated kitchen for just £40 using stickers from Poundland. Amy Trivett, 39, from Anglia Square in Norwich, wasn’t a fan of her old-fashioned kitchen. She told money-saving community Latest Deals : “The area really needed updating. The old tiles and dated look was really making me feel down.” After seeing people discussing tile stickers on a Poundland fan group on Facebook, she went to her local store to find supplies. It wasn’t long before she hit her first roadblock. “I started to cover the old tiles and realised I would need loads more!” Fortunately, getting enough to cover the whole kitchen didn’t break the bank. “I would say it cost me £40 to complete all the tiles. Such a cheaper alternative to replacement of the tiles,” she added. The swish blue and grey design now looks professionally applied, but in reality Amy got lucky with the colours. “Our kitchen is painted blue anyway but also it was down to what was … [Read more...] about I transformed the dated kitchen in my rented house for £40 using Poundland stickers & it only took three hours to do

Fox's biopic will be produced amid the backdrop of US states legislating against transgender people in the US, with many denying them the right to play sports with the gender they identify as. Surrey: The mystery of the late-night lumberjack chain-sawing down trees under the cover of darkness ‘for no reason’

· April 22, 2021 ·

A mystery tree-feller is chain-sawing down trees under the cover of darkness. No one has any idea why, but more than 50 trees have been hacked down and simply left strewn on the ground in various locations around the small Surrey town of Weybridge in the borough of Elmbridge. Residents have formed a Facebook action group called Elmbridge Tree Patrol to try and stop the audacious lumberjack, they accuse of "mindless vandalism". It now has more than 1,000 members. But, despite late-night patrols, the trawling of hours of CCTV footage, appeals for doorbell cam videos, and even the use of number plate recognition technology, police are no nearer to identifying the perpetrator or perpetrators.
