A former Derby MP and mental health campaigner is asking people across the county to get involved in a new challenge. The Head High Happy Box Challenge, which involves filming yourself filling a box with five things which make you happy, is being completed by people across Derbyshire. The challenge aims to break down the stigma of mental health by remembering the positives around us. Former Derby North MP Amanda Solloway, who runs Head High, the charity behind the challenge, completed her own Happy Box. Amanda placed a lipstick, some earrings, a book from her mum, the words of her favourite song and her marathon medal inside her happy box. Amanda said: "Like a lot of people, sometimes I can feel a little bit low or empty. "All in all, I find sometimes it's good to get your thoughts together and think about things that make you happy." Blue light has short yet high energy wavelengths that can penetrate the skin, … [Read more...] about Blue light exposure: The best products to beat the blues
Shall we get the reservations out of the way first? There is, with these celebrity mental health programmes, a limit to the science. The programmes are a trade-off. The famous people are lending their fame to bring attention to a subject that would otherwise be a hard sell. A documentary which took a deep dive into depression would interest a small minority, if it was even commissioned. Last week, the actor David Harewood delivered a fascinating glimpse into a troubling episode in Psychosis And Me (see it on BBC iPlayer). The structure of that film was like a particularly informative Who Do You Think You Are?, with the emphasis being on the actor’s past self, rather than his distant ancestors. Alastair … [Read more...] about Can magnetic mind stimulators or Burnley FC beat the blues?
