Picture: Paul Hawkins Paul Hawkins A teenager from Gorleston will be performing in the grand final of the BBC Young Musician 2018 competition tomorrow evening. Maxim Calver, 18, has fought off talented young classical musicians from across the country to make the final three. Calver’s triumphant semi-final performance was broadcast last night on BBC Four and tomorrow’s final, which will take place at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, will be broadcast at 7pm on BBC Four and 7.30pm on BBC Three. Maxim started playing the cello when he was four-years-old before boarding at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey when he was eight, where he has been a pupil for 10 years. Broadcaster Stephen Nolan has lashed out at internet trolls who posted a photo of him across social media. The image showed the TV and radio presenter dressed in white boxer shorts apparently on his knees on stage with a male. But it was a video grab from a TV show broadcast in November 2016 and Mr Nolan said it was “falsely used it to suggest I had been acting inappropriately in a foreign country”. Mr Nolan, who had been working in the US this week, offered anyone who had shared the image a chance to apologise. But this was in fact a self-deprecating skit on his long-running TV show Nolan Live, which is broadcast weekly on BBC Northern Ireland. Stage act May McFettridge, played by John Lenihan, appeared in the sketch giving a running commentary on his joking modelling debut.
