While a £1m home is dream to many, up and down the country it is a reality to the privileged few. From swanky mansions to chic inner-city apartments, homes are snapped up for almighty seven-figure sums every day. But have you ever wondered just how many times that has ever happened in Hull? While East Yorkshire boasts 57 homes, ranging from grand halls near York to huge farms near Driffield, it will come as little surprise to find out Hull has significantly fewer. A mega-wealthy road in Ascot is the home to half of the 10 most expensive house sales ever recorded in Berkshire. The road is Titlarks Hill and it is the home of the most multi-million pound sales since records began in 1995. Looking at the road from above, you notice huge gardens and a lot of parking space. There's not a noticeable amount of swimming pools, but that's probably because these homes have them indoors. The road is home to the biggest home sale ever recorded in the county, which was a staggering £21 million paid for a seven bedroom home. That mansion sold in August 2017. The next most expensive was in another part of the county. It was a home in West Woodhay near Newbury, sold for £9 million in June last year, which was one of the most expensive sales in the country that month. Third place was another road in Ascot - this time in London Road, Sunninghill- which sold for a strangely specific £8,949,158 20 years ago in 1999. The most expensive home sold during … [Read more...] about Ascot road has five of priciest homes ever sold in Berkshire
VOTERS have abandoned the two main parties in the local elections today as Tories and Labour get punished for not delivering Brexit. Thousands of results have come in overnight and the ballots are still being counted across England. Northern Ireland will begin their counts in the morning and a fuller picture will be seen in the coming hours. Tories have lost more than a dozen councils and over 350 seats so far as furious voters slam them for not taking us out of the EU yet Labour are four councils down but only have seen a drop of 80 seats as their position on the fence fails to win them any more support. Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats are up more than 200 and Independents are having a great night as they demand Brexit be stopped altogether. Theresa May has been desperate not to talk about Brexit but fuming voters spoiled their ballots to show their fury at her. The poor results for the Tories could be even worse at the EU elections later this month - which Nigel Farage's Brexit … [Read more...] about Local election results 2019: Who won council seats in my area?
