PSL vs IPL: Dates of Pakistan, India T20 leagues set to clash in 2025
KARACHI: The available window for PSL is likely to clash with the IPL in 2025 due to Pakistan’s packed international cricket schedule that year as per Future Tours Programme (FTP) 2023-27. There would be a clash of dates between the two leagues as Pakistan is hosting its first ICC tournament in almost 30 years (the 1996 ODI World Cup was the last) — the Champions Trophy in February 2025, according to the ESPNcricinfo . That forced the PCB to ink in a window for the tenth season of the PSL between March and May while the IPL's window in the international calendar starts in the first week of March every year, all the way to the beginning of June. After missing out on a chance to host multi-nation cricket at home in the three previous three FTP cycles, Pakistan has started to host top teams in the last three years, and is set to host all Full Members (barring India) in the 2023-27 Future Tours Programme. There are 27 Tests, including 13 at home, as part of the ICC World Test … [Read more...] about PSL vs IPL: Dates of Pakistan, India T20 leagues set to clash in 2025
Queen Elizabeth ‘might die’ in October, claims ‘time traveller’
Queen Elizabeth, at age 96, has reportedly been struggling with recurring health and mobility issues, and now, in a rather crude joke, a self-styled ‘time traveller’ on TikTok has made startling claims about when she might pass away, reported International Business Times. According to a TikTok user named @timetraveler_2082, the long-reigning monarch may not have much longer to live, and while his comments are to be taken with a grain of salt, he says that she could die as early as this year in October. Claiming to be ‘from the future’ and on the video-sharing app to ‘warn people’ of future events, the user stated: “In 2023 Big Ben collapses due to an unexpected earthquake. In 2030 GTA 7 is released. Queen Elizabeth II went in 2022 October 4th.” While some may have found the joke funny, it is pertinent to note that royal enthusiasts have been worried about the Queen’s health for about a year now after she spent a night in the hospital last October. She has since missed quite a … [Read more...] about Queen Elizabeth ‘might die’ in October, claims ‘time traveller’

Why the sale of guns on Facebook in Iraq is so ‘rife’
Facebook users in Iraq are exploiting the platform's lack of Arabic and Kurdish-language moderation policies in order to purchase guns online, according to a report. The study by the Institute of Strategic Dialogue (ISD) has found that the sale of weapons in Iraq is "rife" in Facebook comment sections. Social media giants have long been accused of failing to effectively moderate harmful and dangerous content, particularly in regions such as the Middle East. Meta — the parent company of Facebook — has fewer resources to tackle content in various languages and dialects than in English. The lack of moderation in Arabic and Kurdish has created an open gun market on Facebook in Iraq, said Moustafa Ayad, the ISD Executive Director for Africa, Middle East & Asia. "It was relatively easy to find weapons for sale on comments sections of very large Facebook pages, pages with over 2 million followers," Ayad told Euronews. According to his research, some of the … [Read more...] about Why the sale of guns on Facebook in Iraq is so ‘rife’

By Pallab Ghosh Published 15 hours ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing The UK government has begun what may be its final effort to resolve a dispute over the UK's membership of the EU's €100bn Horizon research programme. It has written to Brussels urging it to "end persistent delays" in delivering on its promise to allow British access to EU research collaborations. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss accused the European Commission of politicising scientific co-operation. Some experts say the move is the start of UK withdrawal from the programme. Prof James Wilsdon the director of the Research on Research Institute at Sheffield University told BBC News that he believes that there will be no resolution, at which point the new prime minister will instead announce the UK's own international research programme - known as Plan B. We built a Buddhist temple in an Edinburgh family home
By Angie Brown Published 1 day ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing When plans for a huge Buddhist temple on the outskirts of Edinburgh had to be shelved, monks based in what was once a family home in the city decided to transform it instead. A renovation project at The Dhammapadipa Temple in Slateford saw a double garage converted into a prayer room complete with an 80 stone (500kg) gold-plated Buddha from Thailand. Now the three resident Theravada Buddhist monks are urging people to visit the temple to see the transformation. Members of the Thai community that settled in Scotland first established The Dhammapadipa Temple in 2005.
