KITCHENAID is well known for their range of colourful stand mixers, which are loved by home bakers everywhere. We put the KitchenAid Artisan 5KSM175PS 4.8l stand mixer to the test to see whether it stands up to the hype. KitchenAid Artisan 5KSM175PS mixer, for £479 from Currys - buy here One of the best things about KitchenAid’s stand mixers is that they come in a range of sizes - small (3.3l), medium (4.3l or 4.8l) and large (4.8l or 6.9l) - and colours to suit your kitchen. We tried the 5KSM175PS 4.8l model in Honey, the 2021 colour of the year for the brand. It’s a vibrant orange that will add a pop of colour to your kitchen. You can also get this medium-sized machine in classic shades such as Empire Red and Onyx Black, which tend to have a bit more availability in stores. As well as the 4.8l mixing bowl, 6-wire whisk, flat beater, and dough hook you get in the slightly cheaper 5KSM125 model, you also get a 3l mixing bowl, a pouring shield and a flex edge beater … [Read more...] about KitchenAid Artisan 5KSM175PS 4.8l stand mixer review

Inside Amazon’s ‘dystopian’ store with no tills, booze ‘bouncers’ and surveillance cams
I was one hour and 40 minutes and eleven miles away from London’s new Amazon Fresh supermarket before I had a clue what I’d spent in there. I was already home and munching on my impulse-purchased cinnamon scroll from Britain's first 'no till' store before a receipt of my purchase popped up on my phone screen. I immediately clicked through to the Amazon Shopping app to assess the damage. For £18.89 - not terrible, but not exactly cheap either. I visited the new supermarket at 59 The Broadway, Ealing, west London, on Friday as it drew its first flocks of shoppers curious to try out the experience. What do you think of Amazon Fresh - will you shop there? Join the debate in the comments below... How it works Surveillance technology allows shoppers to simply scan in using a QR code then place items in their bag. Instead of handheld scanning equipment, the sophisticated 'Just Walk Out' camera technology tracks shoppers' movements and determines the items they take … [Read more...] about Inside Amazon’s ‘dystopian’ store with no tills, booze ‘bouncers’ and surveillance cams
Only EU theology prevents the UK and Ireland from resolving their Brexit border issues
N owadays, at the Cenotaph, a wreath is laid in memory of those Irishmen who served the forces of the British Crown in the two world wars. Its green stood out so movingly yesterday in the sea of red poppies. Those many brave men, who sometimes endured socio-political ostracism, deserve our thanks. It shows how enormously relations between our two countries have improved that this wreath is proudly laid and gratefully accepted. It is also a reminder of how ridiculous is the EU’s position about the Irish border in relation to Brexit . Britain and Ireland share a massive common interest in a border which is easy to cross. It is a commercial and human necessity – especially for the Republic. We established this in bilateral treaties many years before we both joined what was then the European Economic Community. We successfully maintained it – despite the need for vigilance because of terrorism – right through the Troubles. … [Read more...] about Only EU theology prevents the UK and Ireland from resolving their Brexit border issues
Sarah Everard: Police ‘increasingly concerned’ for welfare of missing Brixton woman
Police are "increasingly concerned" about the welfare of a missing woman who disappeared while walking home in London. Sarah Everard, 33, went missing while walking to her home in Brixton, south London , from the nearby Clapham Junction area on Wednesday evening. The marketing manager had been at a friend's house in Clapham when she left the property in Leathwaite Road around 9pm, exiting through the back gate onto the A205 South Circular. She is thought to have walked across Clapham Common and was expected to arrive home around 50 minutes later. Friends of Ms Everard said she spoke to her partner en route around 9.30pm, but has not been heard from since. Her last known location was near Clarence Avenue. Advertisement In a statement, Ms Everard's family said: "With every day that goes by we are getting more worried about Sarah. "She is always in regular contact with us and with her friends and it is totally out of character for her to … [Read more...] about Sarah Everard: Police ‘increasingly concerned’ for welfare of missing Brixton woman
No meat, no milk. Is it okay to raise my child on a vegan diet?
"Don't tell me you're following this trend now, too!" That was the pediatrician's reaction when Marco and his wife explained to her that they were raising their daughter on a vegan diet . Protein, vitamin B12, iodine, zinc, selenium — where are these vital nutrients supposed to come from? The doctor asked. "You have to have your facts ready," said Marco, who explained to the doctor he and his wife knew which plant-based foods contained which micro and macronutrients and how to make up for a lack of meat and dairy in their child's diet. In fact, numerous studies on adults have already shown that vegetarian and vegan diets do not necessarily lead to nutrient deficiencies. On the contrary, they can have tremendous health benefits. Even the more traditionally-minded German Nutrition Society (DGE) says a plant-based diet "is not only beneficial to human health, but it is also climate-friendly." An increased risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular issues and various cancers have … [Read more...] about No meat, no milk. Is it okay to raise my child on a vegan diet?
