Time for some home truths. Or to be more precise, home and away truths. Stoke City’s position in he Premier League is in peril and it has to be viewed with clear eyes. That is not necessarily the case among supporters who have abandoned hope. And optimists within the club’s ranks have to be more than cheer leaders. The 3-0 defeat by Arsenal was City’s season in microcosm, complete with referee scapegoat. It bears looking at calmly. During the build-up, Paul Lambert told The Sentinel that City would be going with a ‘plan to win.’ Not just a steely determination. A plan. To win. He would surely have felt renewed confidence when he was handed a copy of Arsenal’s team sheet. Arsène Wenger has clearly identified winning the Europa League as the best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, and is deploying his resources accordingly. I had hung it with one of those ‘easy fix’ sticky-back hooks that don’t require drilling or screws. You know the ones. They don’t damage your walls or your tiles. And they don’t work. From now on I would do all my DIY with sticky-back hanging hooks. I could probably finish the house by using them if I really put my mind to it. It was easier than trying to learn how to use a drill which always starts off well then halfway through the explanation my eyes glaze over and by the time whoever is showing me gets to the bit about the rawl plug I’m halfway around Aintree in my … [Read more...] about I have broken a mirror — only seven years bad luck to go!

Millwall need defensive cover for Shaun Hutchinson and Jake Cooper and more options in wide areas. Harris told News Shopper: “I definitely want to bring two in. It’s never been an absolute must that we must bring two players in, one player in or three players in. “It’s been can we add to what we’ve got? Can we make our squad better? Can we get the right players? We’re certainly trying hard to get the right players. “We've had some really bad luck in the transfer window so far. Some players have been very close to coming in, but they've had an upturn in fortunes at their clubs, which is good for them in some ways, not for us. “One minute you're close to doing something and the next minute it seems a million miles away. … [Read more...] about Harris targets two players after Millwall’s ‘bad luck’ in transfer window
