It was updated on Dec. 29, 2018.] Matt Herren still struggles to make sense of what happened the night of Oct. 12, 2012, when his close friend, Ryan Poston, was killed. "I think about him every day," Herren said. "You don't think something like that is ever going to happen to someone you know." "Is there something I could've done that could've prevented that? And I know a lot of people in his life had to have felt the same way," Herren told "48 Hours" correspondent Peter Van Sant. How did things spiral so out of control between Ryan and his girlfriend, Shayna Hubers, that she shot him to death -- insisting it was to protect herself? "What was lost when your friend was shot and killed?" Van Sant asked Herren. "He's the type of person that you want in your life," he replied. "Not just a friend, but a loving son, a protective, adoring older brother." "He had … [Read more...] about New murder trial for Shayna Hubers: Why did she shoot Ryan Poston six times?

BAD dates - we've all had them. But surely Twitter user Ryann Miller's takes the biscuit. The Californian explained in a Twitter thread how she was on a date with a 38-year-old man when he left her with a $50 (£38) bill before doing a runner. And then he had the cheek to tell her she was fat in a WhatsApp message. In the thread, which has been shared hundreds of times on Twitter, Ryann explained how the date didn't start well. Adding how she met the man - who has children - via the dating app Bumble she said: "We decided on a bar and sat down for drinks." "The whole way to the bar he talked about bad dates he had, so I shared a few as well," she continued. "When we sat down, he continued to s*** all over girls my age and our expectations of men. "Anyway, he was completely rude to our waitress because she didn’t walk over to our table fast enough when he finished his first beer. "He threw his menu on the floor like a literal baby and then spoke to her in a disgustingly … [Read more...] about Woman’s account of ‘date from hell’ goes viral after she reveals man left her with £38 bill after bolting and then text her saying ‘hard no fatty’
Meet the little boy for whom brushing his teeth is a life or death situation. Tooth decay could be fatal for John Gray, 5, who was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare congenital heart defect which prevents sufficient blood reaching the lungs to get oxygen. John's oral hygiene needs to be absolute because any tooth decay could cause the lining in his heart to swell and stop beating. His mum Bridget McGinty told Mirror.co.uk: "I was shocked that something as small as toothache or an infection could be fatal. "My first reaction was 'what have teeth got to do with your heart?' We were terrified that something seemingly so small and easy to go undetected could be deadly. "You constantly worry that as he gets older he'll go to the shop and buy an armload of sweets. "We constantly reiterate that he has to have a healthy diet and he needs to brush his teeth after every time he eats. "It really annoys him. He wants to brush his teeth himself but he can't reach the back properly so we have to … [Read more...] about Mum’s fear every time her son, 5, eats sweets
Whisper it but there is life outside the M25. If you live in pristine-white Veja trainers but go weak at the knees for Hunter wellies, you’re not alone. This evening the race to get to a rural staycation begins as time-poor Londoners shun airport delays, and press out into the countryside. But where you go is revealing. Alexa Chung bounces from London to the Wilderness Reserve in Suffolk, Jack Guinness visits Porthpean House in south Cornwall while Mark Ronson and Nick Grimshaw hit up North Cadbury Court in Somerset. For mortal singletons, dating app Bumble has unveiled its version of the Love Island’s Mallorca villa, taking over Wilderness in Saxmundham, Suffolk. Airbnb reports a year-on-year surge from Londoners wanting short-term rentals in properties. In the UK 53 per cent of guest arrivals using the site in this summer are pegged to domestic travellers. Wanderlust wayfarers who still get nervous when the 4G signal starts to fade are spoilt for choice. … [Read more...] about New ‘country clubs’ the A-List will be flocking to this long weekend
