Covid vaccine news UK – 32 MILLION tests being sent to kids on Monday as figures show single jab ’90 per cent effective’

· February 28, 2021 ·

CHILDREN will be tested with lateral flow tests twice a week - with 32 million test kits being sent out. And just one single dose of a Pfizer/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine can give 90 per cent protection from the disease, as new figures show jabs are slashing hospitalisations. Meanwhile Boris Johnson this weekend pledged to get Britain's workers back to their offices "soon" as the UK officially passed 19 MILLION first doses today. Speaking at a rail industry conference, the PM dismissed the idea that the lockdown would lead to a permanent shift towards Brits working from home. And former Tory leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith said: “We need to get people back to work as soon as possible. “There are lots of reasons why work is important to our lives. It affects people’s physical and mental wellbeing and there are issues around productivity. Follow our live blog below for the very latest on the UK 's path out of lockdown ... Groom accused of ‘wrecking’ wedding after making pal PROPOSE in the middle of the reception as ‘ultimate wingman’ act

· February 28, 2021 ·

YOUR wedding is the one day in every woman's life where she's guaranteed to have all eyes on her. With this in mind, it's probably a good idea to avoid wearing the colour white or, you know, getting ENGAGED at her wedding. Unfortunately for one recent bride, her husband-to-be wasn't aware of this unspoken rule - and organised for his pal to pop the question to his girlfriend at the reception. Last November, Australian couple Laiven and Catrin Bene tied the knot in a lavish ceremony - and the groom later shared a video of his mate's proposal on TikTok. In a viral video, the bride is about to do the bouquet toss when she turns around and hands it to one of her female guests. When she turns around, the woman's boyfriend is down on one knee and presenting her with a ring - which she then accepts. But while the couple were happy to share their day, people on TikTok were horrified by the proposal and accused the groom of "wrecking" the wedding. One replied: "You wait … [Read more...] about Groom accused of ‘wrecking’ wedding after making pal PROPOSE in the middle of the reception as ‘ultimate wingman’ act

Mum’s clever ‘cup trick’ takes the stress out of meal planning – and the kids love it too

· February 17, 2021 ·

DECIDING what to make for dinner each night can be exhausting - which is why this mum's solution is a game changer. The Australian mum-of-two shared her clever "cup trick" on Facebook which is as easy as "picking an idea out of a hat". Her and her daughter take turns in choosing what meal to cook by writing down options and placing them in a cup. They will then pick one out at random, along with a side, making up their meal for the night. The mum reckons it's made the meal planning process so much easier, and it's become a fun activity for them both, too. She shared two photos and explained how the nightly ritual works. The snaps show two cups side by side - one is labelled with 'dinner' and the other 'sides'. They will simply pick one out of each cup and make whatever comes out. While it's certainly a gamble, the mum reckons they "haven't had any weird combinations yet" and added, "everything seems to just go together". Alongside the snaps she asked: "Does … [Read more...] about Mum’s clever ‘cup trick’ takes the stress out of meal planning – and the kids love it too

Don’t be a mug, make these tasty ‘cup’ cake recipes for less

· February 25, 2021 ·

QUICK and easy mug cakes are the latest lockdown trend across social media – and I can see why. Far quicker — and cheaper — than baking an actual cake in the oven, they are the perfect savvy snack when you crave a sweet treat. Use these tips to make your own “cup” cake for less cash... GO BANANAS: Grab one ripe banana and 80g of Creative Nature banana bread mix, £2.99 at Tesco, rather than £3.99 at creativenaturesuperfoods.co.uk . Mash the banana with a little butter or margarine before combining with the bread mix and a dash of water. Microwave for 30 seconds on high before leaving to stand for 30 seconds. Repeat and if it looks like it needs a little longer, blast in ten-second bursts until the inside of your mug cake develops a nice bouncy texture. SAVING: £1 PROTEIN HIT: I love the protein mug cake mix from theproteinworks.com. You can currently grab a bag for £14.38, down from £15.99. Mix a scoop with water and microwave for 60 seconds. … [Read more...] about Don’t be a mug, make these tasty ‘cup’ cake recipes for less
