ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Wednesday said that any recording — either audio or video — made to expose a crime is not a crime unless it is done to blackmail someone. The interior minister made these remarks in Islamabad while addressing a press conference where he was asked to comment on the alleged audio of Bushra Bibi in which she could be heard directing the PTI social media head to run trends against party rivals and declare them traitors. The audio has sparked a debate over privacy issues, while the PTI has demanded the top court take notice of the leaked audio. There are reports that alleged audio of former prime minister Imran Khan talking to his principal secretary Azam Khan may also be released. “If a recording is made to expose a criminal offence, it is not a crime and if a recording is done to blackmail, it is a crime,” the minister said. TTP talks Rana Sanaullah said the dialogue process with banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is currently in … [Read more...] about Recording to expose a crime is not a crime: Rana Sanullah

The Telegraph understands that Brandon Lewis, the Northern Ireland Secretary, Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, and Simon Hart, the Welsh Secretary, are among those who are preparing to make the intervention . Mr Zahawi is also understood to be involved, with the push against the Prime Minister being coordinated by Chief Whip Chris Heaton-Harris. Cement bellies of livestock in eastern Slovakia produce biomethane
“These are actually the cement bellies of livestock,” said Martin Pribola, owner of the MP agricultural company situated near Jelšava in eastern Slovakia, when describing the purpose of the wide green cement cylinders above which dark sheets swell and wave. These fermentation tanks are filled with a mixture of manure and silage maize, producing biogas. It is either used to produce electricity and heat or is further processed into biomethane. This gas, whose parameters are almost identical with that of natural gas, is a promising commodity as it can reduce Slovakia’s dependence on Russian natural gas . Italy’s Number Two Mobster Extradited From Brazil | The Daily Wire
Italy’s second most wanted mobster has been extradited from Brazil after hiding in South America for decades. Rocco Morabito, the “cocaine king of Milan,” arrived in Rome on Wednesday after 28 years on the run from the law. Morabito, 55, was second on the list of Italy’s most wanted and dangerous mobsters and was regarded as one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world. Italian authorities had been looking for him since 1994, and he was convicted in absentia by a Milan court in 2001. “He was a major architect in the internationalization of the [crime] gangs and became the king of cocaine brokers,” Nicola Morra, the Italian senator who heads the anti-mafia commission, wrote on Facebook. Morabito was a leading member of the ‘Ndrangheta, which has in recent decades become even more powerful and widespread than the infamous Sicilian mafia, especially in the cocaine business. The mafia don was finally arrested last year in May, the result of a joint operation by … [Read more...] about Italy’s Number Two Mobster Extradited From Brazil | The Daily Wire
Hunting for Antibiotics in the World’s Dirtiest Places
On a chilly autumn morning in northwest London, just outside the Euston train station, Adam Roberts stops at the top of an outdoor staircase, looks around for police, and tries to appear inconspicuous. This is harder than it sounds, and not only because he’s 6 foot 3. Roberts pulls a plastic-wrapped package from his pocket, tears it open, and slides out a long, slender tube and a swab that looks like an overgrown Q-tip. After checking again for anyone watching, he trots down the stairs, dragging the swab along the handrail, and slips the swab into the tube and the tube into his pocket. Then he strolls away. Listen to the audio version of this article: Feature stories, read aloud: download the Audm app for your iPhone. After a block, Roberts veers off busy Euston Road and down side streets toward his lab at University College London. He’s not up to anything nefarious—quite the opposite—but with closed-circuit TVs everywhere and London on high alert for terrorist threats, … [Read more...] about Hunting for Antibiotics in the World’s Dirtiest Places
The Smartphone Psychiatrist
S ometime around 2010, about two-thirds of the way through his 13 years at the helm of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)—the world’s largest mental-health research institution—Tom Insel started speaking with unusual frankness about how both psychiatry and his own institute were failing to help the mentally ill. Insel, runner-trim, quietly alert, and constitutionally diplomatic, did not rant about this. It’s not in him. You won’t hear him trash-talk colleagues or critics. Listen to the audio version of this article: Feature stories, read aloud: download the Audm app for your iPhone. Yet within the bounds of his unbroken civility, Insel began voicing something between a regret and an indictment. In writings and public talks, he lamented the pharmaceutical industry’s failure to develop effective new drugs for depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia; academic psychiatry’s overly cozy relationship with Big Pharma; and the paucity of treatments produced by the … [Read more...] about The Smartphone Psychiatrist
