Dramatic photos show the devastation after a car smashed into a DFS furniture store following a high-speed police chase . The crash has left two men - both occupants of the white Volkswagen Scirocco - fighting for life in hospital as they were hurled from the vehicle. Pictures capture the wreckage of the car, on its side and embedded in the shop's frontage near Cannock, Staffordshire. It's believed the Volkswagen driver lost control of the motor as it hurtled around a roundabout, overturned and veered towards the store in the early hours of the morning. The Staffordshire Police car, which had been in pursuit of the vehicle from nearby Lichfield, was not involved in the collision. But the force has now referred itself to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) . A Ferrari race car was left mashed up on a residential street after an early morning smash. The area has been cordoned off while cops deal with the incident which happened in a street in Ipswich. Suffolk police were called to the scene in the east of the town at 7.04am yesterday. The road was taped off while police dealt with the smash, but the road has since been reopened and traffic is flowing freely. SuffolkLive reports that a person has been detained by police after a crash in a residential Ipswich street involving the Ferrari race car. The force has not confirmed whether the person detained was driving either car. Photographs of the scene show the sports car had a completely crumpled bonnet. A lorry driver who ploughed into the back of a stopped car on the A1 and killed its driver claimed he crashed because he had a sneezing fit. Raymond Buff, 55, hit the Volkswagen Golf near Eaton Socon on December 9, 2019, after failing to stop for stationary traffic. The car’s driver, Matthew Mitchell, 39, died in hospital the next day. Buff claimed to police at the scene he had a sneezing fit, stopping him from seeing the traffic in time. At Peterborough Crown Court Buff admitted causing death by careless driving and was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court to nine months in prison, Cambridgeshire Police said. A mum whose infant son was left fighting for his life after sustaining a fractured skull in a crash has issued a warning to other parents about the safest way to use car seats. Zoe ten Broek had been on the way to her parent’s house when she and her 10-month-old boy Jaxon were involved in a horror car crash. The terrifying incident left her baby with a bleed on the brain and torn neck ligaments. Zoe said Jaxon wouldn’t have survived had he not been strapped into the car, facing the rear of the vehicle. The mum, from Melbourne, Australia, has been placing baby Jax in the car backwards ever since he was born, she said. A car smashed into the front of Boris Johnson’s £1.3million south London townhouse yesterday. A black Vauxhall Astra was pictured having crashed into the tree at the four-bed home which the Prime minister Bought with his partner Carrie Johnson in 2020. Police said no offences were committed in the crash and the driver was treated for a minor injury. The crash damaged the hedges, tree and knocked over a small ornamental pillar in the front garden. It also left debris strewn across the driveway and towards the road. Neighbours reportedly said that the residential street has long had a problem with drivers speeding along it, using it as a rat run. An ambulance has overturned after a serious early-morning crash with a car. Two clinicians and a patient were inside the emergency vehicle at the time, with one crew member taken to hospital. Firefighters were able to safely free all involved. Photos from the scene show the ambulance having toppled onto its side in the middle of a Leicester road near a Tesco supermarket, reports LeicestershireLive. A silver car, with a caved in bonnet, is also seen close by having rammed into a set of traffic lights, which have been left at an angle. Leicestershire Police have warned motorists to avoid the area, with Welford Road closed at Asquith Boulevard junction city-bound towards the Tesco Express in Lutterworth Road. A man has won a body building competition after doctors told his family it was unlikely he'd be able to walk again following a car crash. Marlon Laight suffered serious injuries after he lost control of his car having taken his seatbelt off for a "split second" and reaching down to retrieve an e-cigarette. The then 26-year-old careered into a Seat and spun off the road on in Cleethorpes, Grimsby Telegraph reported. Marlon ended up careering through a bus stop and could easily have died were it not for one passer-by who kept his airways open until paramedics arrived. A woman killed alongside her three dogs after being struck by a car has been named as Olivia Riley. The 41-year-old, from Suffolk, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision in Chelsea, west London, on Saturday morning. She has been formally identified by police. The driver of the car, a man aged 26, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Met Police officers responded to reports of the crash in Cheyne Walk at 6.21am, attending with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. A man died after being struck by a car just yards from his husband while they were walking their dog on Christmas Eve, an inquest has heard. American Joshua Hellon was hit by the BMW as he stepped from between two parked vehicles on Rochdale Road in Middleton, Greater Manchester. During an inquest into his death at Rochdale Coroner's Court on Wednesday, coroner Michael Salt read out a statement from the 30-year-old's husband, Andrew Hellon. Shocking dashcam footage of the moment a semi-truck crashed into a BMW on a California freeway has gone viral.
