A teenager has pleaded guilty to attempted murder after he threw a young boy from the tenth-storey viewing platform of the Tate Modern. Jonty Bravery, 18, was at the Old Bailey today and admitted throwing the six-year-old from the tourist attraction on Sunday August 4 in what was described as "devastating and shocking incident". The court heard the boy was "singled out by Bravery, who threw him from the viewing platform intending to kill him." Bravery was remanded in custody after the short hearing by Recorder of London Nicholas Hilliard QC, ahead of his sentencing hearing at a later date. The victim, a visitor from France who cannot be named because of his age, spent months in intensive care. CPS prosecutor Emma Jones said the attack "changed the lives of Bravery's young victim and his family forever." He continues to recover slowly in his native France. PICTURED: Four of the first five men to be killed by the federal government since 2003: Murderers whose victims all include children will be executed in months as their attorneys plead for leniency
These are the five federal prisoners who are set to be executed within months following a surprise announcement by the Justice Department on Thursday that the federal government will resume capital punishment for the first time since 2003. Daniel Lewis Lee, 46; Lezmond Charles Mitchell, 37; Wesley Ira Purkey, 67; Alfred Bourgeois, 55; and Dustin Lee Honken, 51, are scheduled to be executed in December or January. All are convicted murderers whose victims include children, and in some cases the children were horribly tortured and sexually abused. The condemned men are being held on federal death row at Terre Haute USP in Indiana, and the Justice Department says all five have exhausted their appeals and post-conviction remedies. However, attorneys for some of the men have already spoken out, pleading for leniency based on the traumatic childhoods of the murderers and alleged legal lapses at trial - though so far none have argued actual innocence. … [Read more...] about PICTURED: Four of the first five men to be killed by the federal government since 2003: Murderers whose victims all include children will be executed in months as their attorneys plead for leniency
