In order to keep your driving licence, vehicle log book and tax up-to-date, you must register any changes of address to the DVLA. This not only includes permanent addresses, but also if you're moving temporarily to university. Likewise, if you get married or you take another name, it is important you let the DVLA know, in order to avoid a hefty fine. You can do so by filling out a short online application form. RETIRED postman David Morrison has been dusting off his memories of working in Cirencester post office. He’s unearthed his album of old photographs of the people who worked there from the late Fifties to the late Eighties. Most of the pictures are of social gatherings, including fondly remembered family Christmas parties. Mr Morrison started work at the post office in Castle Street in 1959, after five years’ service in the RAF. The top floor of the three-storey building had been the town telephone exchange. It moved to Lewis Lane before joined in 1959. When he started the second floor of the building was the administrative offices, and the base for the head postmaster, his assistant and other staff. A MAN has been charged following an attempted robbery at a post office in Clacton. A raider entered Clacton Post Office, in High Street, shortly before it closed at about 5.30pm on Monday. Officers were called to the scene following reports that a man had entered the store and verbally threatened a staff member, before making demands for money to be handed over. The man, who then left the shop on foot without any of the shop’s takings, was reported to have been carrying a firearm. A man was arrested in Clacton on Tuesday morning. Aron Parkinson, 34, of Station Road, Clacton has been charged with attempted robbery and having an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. He has also been charged with theft in relation to a separate incident. He is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. Police cordoned off The Market Square after a suspicious package was reported at the post office in Winchester Street. Officers evacuated shops and businesses in the centre and put up a 100m cordon. An officer at the scene told the Journal the threat was "credible". Bomb disposal experts removed the package and the cordon was lifted at just after 6.45pm. The incident at the post office in Kinglassie Main Street, Fife was reported to police at 2.15pm today. Police remain on the scene.
