BENIDORM is relaunching their beach "squares" which tourists have to reserve, despite them causing long queues last summer. The scheme was originally launched to allow social distancing at the popular beaches, and is restarting from March 1. Mayor Toni Pérez explained it was an "an extension to the organisation and operation model that we implemented in June 2020 under the ‘Benidorm Beach Safety’ project." While the initial plans will only be in place from March 1 to April 30, due to the busy period with two local holidays, it is likely to be introduced again during the peak season when Brits descend to the beaches. The proposal includes "the subdivision of the sandy areas, with spaces of 16 square metres (4×4 metres) to ensure physical distancing and personal observance of these measures," which is the same as last year's initiative . Sunloungers and umbrella rental services will also be suspended. Mr Pérez said: "The implementation of all these services is one … [Read more...] about Benidorm to restart beach ‘squares’ which tourists have to reserve – despite hour long queues last summer

Ryman axes shop floor and head office jobs as it becomes latest Covid retail casualty
Stationery chain Ryman has placed a number of shop floor and head office workers on consultation amid ongoing Covid restrictions across England. The high street giant, which was founded in 1883 and is run by Dragons Den businessman Theo Paphitis, told staff their jobs are at risk in January as the company entered consultation talks. In a letter sent to thousands of employees - and seen by Mirror Money - Paphitis said the decision is "tough" but necessary to keep the business trading “for decades to come". He said that a growth in online sales during the first and second Covid lockdowns have not been enough to compensate for losses across the chain's 200 high street stores. Campsites can’t reopen until May due to shared loos – but rule doesn’t apply to pubs
Campsites across England have been left fuming and devastated as a rule on shared toilets means the majority won't be able to reopen until May. The lockdown roadmap announced by Boris Johnson means that self-contained accommodation will be able to reopen from April 12, which many holidaymakers took to mean camping holidays could be back on the cards. However, any accommodation which includes shared indoor facilities - for example toilet blocks or shower blocks - won't be allowed to reopen on this date. Instead, they will need to wait until at least May 17 when all other accommodation will be able to open, meaning they will miss out on the peak season of the first May bank holiday weekend.
