Shoreham Methodist Church’s Arts and Crafts Festival is entering its 49th year with a launch event to kick off the week-long celebration of art. Valerie Trevor, chairman of the Adur Special Needs Project, has been invited to launch the festival on Saturday at 10.30am.Adur Special Needs Project is a charity enabling disadvantaged children to take part in activities and it will benefit from festival donations.Last year, as well as supporting Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, the festival supported a Water for Life project which helps communities impacted by climate change in Nicaragua.Deborah Fleming and Cara Gillespie, who have been exhibiting at the festival for years, will illustrate a wide variety of crafts.Deborah is a painter but also produces glass mosaic work, while Cara’s works include jewellery, hand screen-printed bags, mugs and many other accessories.Margaret Bedwell, secretary of the organising committee, said: “Every year is different. Worsthorne Arts and Crafts Fair is under way
Villagers in Worsthorne have been enjoying themselves at the 44th arts and crafts fair. The event, held at St John's Church, began on Saturday and runs until Sunday. Jewellery, wood, handbags, luxury jams and preserves, hand-made chocolates and greetings cards are just some of the items up for sale while in the upstairs room there is a selection of paintings created by local artists.Pianist Martin Smith will be performing on Friday night with Janet Westmoreland’s keyboard pupils entertaining visitors the following night. Both these sessions begin at 7pm.Refreshments are available and include a mouth-watering range of delicious homemade cakes.Doors open at 2pm and the entry charge is £1 for adults which allows free admission for the remainder of the fair. Burnley village counts down to 44th arts and crafts fair
Villagers in Worsthorne are preparing for their 44th annual Arts and Crafts Fair this weekend. The Dartmouth Friends of Children’s Hospice South West is thrilled to announce the 15th annual Art and Craft weekend in Royal Avenue Gardens raised over £5000 last weekend.The event was opened by Captain Jolyon Woodard, Captain of the Britannia Royal Naval Collage who presented a £1,000 cheque from the BRNC Charities Committee to volunteer, Sue Tweed.Sue thanked the Captain for his support and the continued support of the BRNC especially in providing officer cadets who provide invaluable help in setting up and taking down equipment over the weekend.Brilliant weather brought the crowds to watch the performances, demonstrations and enjoy the record number of 36 stalls of artists and craft workers.
