Tiger Woods has no memory of crash horror and was clueless about severe injuries

· February 25, 2021 ·

Tiger Woods told police he had no memory of the car crash that left him with a shattered right leg – and was oblivious at the time to the severity of his injuries. Officers yesterday disclosed more details of the superstar golfer’s condition after revealing no charges will be brought against him. Woods, 45, was calm when he was found trapped in a loaned SUV after Tuesday’s accident in California, said Sheriff Alex Villanueva. He added: “At the hospital he was asked about it by investigators and said he had no recollection of the crash itself.” Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, first on the scene six minutes after a 911 emergency call, said: “I don’t think he was aware of how gravely he was injured at the time. Tiger Woods facing “18-month rehab” after car crash warns top golf coach

· February 24, 2021 ·

Tiger Woods has been given hope that he can return to top-level golf by one-time Ryder Cup rival Thomas Levet. Levet broke his leg jumping into a lake to celebrate his victory at the 2011 French Open in one of the sport's most bizarre injury incidents and was back playing inside three months. But it was the experience of his wife Caroline – a leading French amateur who was also seriously hurt in a car crash - which persuades Levet that Woods is not yet finished. “I had only a broken fibula so Tiger's injury is very different but my wife suffered the same injuries as he has as an 18-year-old,” said Levet. “She was in a head-on crash - one car going 80kmh, the other 110kmh. She was in surgery for 15 hours. They operated on both her legs, feet and ankles. She could not walk for six months. But a year and a bit later, in 1988, she was playing for the French Open in a play-off. She couldn't run, walking tired her but she came back. And if she came back, Tiger can come back too.” … [Read more...] about Tiger Woods facing “18-month rehab” after car crash warns top golf coach

Tiger Woods crash latest: 911 audio reveals moment neighbours alerted police to ‘high-speed’ smash

· February 24, 2021 ·

Details have emerged of the car crash involving Tiger Woods on Tuesday that left the golf legend with "significant" right leg injuries, including the moment police were alerted to the incident. 15-time major winner Woods is said to be "awake, responsive and recovering in his hospital room" after a road accident in Los Angeles that could have been fatal. His severely damaged car was clearly seen on the hill off the side of the road after he reportedly glided with a wooden road sign bearing the words ‘Welcome To Rolling Hills Estates’. More details have begun to emerge from the crash, and 911 audio reveals the moment that police were alerted to the ‘high-speed’ smash. It is understood that a neighbour living near where the accident occurred on Hawthorne Boulevard made the call at about 7:30am local time. An officer is clearly heard stating that a person is trapped after a traffic collision, and that a sheriff is on the scene. Brian Bond, 52, was at his partner's house … [Read more...] about Tiger Woods crash latest: 911 audio reveals moment neighbours alerted police to ‘high-speed’ smash

Billie Eilish opens up about her mental health battles and meteoric rise to superstardom in new documentary

· February 25, 2021 ·

SITTING cross-legged on her brother’s bed, Billie Eilish looks like any other angst-ridden teenager as she angrily scrawls in a notebook. But these are not words of frustration at unrequited love or a row with friends. They are the lyrics to the new James Bond theme song . This is how Billie , 19, and older brother Finneas, 23, write all their music together, crouched over notebooks and microphones in the small Californian family home they grew up in. Footage of the surprisingly wholesome process is shown in new documentary film Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry, out today on Apple TV+. It starts with footage of Billie as a 16-year-old before the release of her 2019 multi-Grammy-winning first album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, co-written with Finneas. And it follows her path as she quickly becomes one of the world’s biggest and most critically acclaimed pop stars. But it has not been an easy path to success for Billie. Speaking aged … [Read more...] about Billie Eilish opens up about her mental health battles and meteoric rise to superstardom in new documentary

COVID: No hope for Germany’s hotels?

· January 25, 2021 ·

At first glance, Jan Lehmann is a man with a jolly, confident air. The 54-year-old lives in the Eifel, a hilly region in western Germany that is famous for its beautiful nature: Mountains, valleys, small rivers and lakes, rock formations and miles and miles of forest. Two years ago, Lehmann started his own business with his wife, Sandra. They rent out 18 vacation homes that they lease, along with the land and forest that go with them. They have a 15-year contract with the properties' owner, who has insisted on full payment of the lease even in lockdown. A few of the houses, made of thick Canadian-looking tree trunks, stand in the small village of Gemünd on the edge of the Eifel National Park. In front of the roofed terraces, the little river Urft gurgles, and the birds chirp. It is especially quiet — no guests have checked in here since early November. "From the time of the first lockdown in spring 2020, we've been closed for six months altogether and had no income in that … [Read more...] about COVID: No hope for Germany’s hotels?
