Regardless of how artificial intelligence (AI) is defined, there is little doubt that this resource can be of great value, especially in big data applications. Undoubtedly, AI is fast becoming a major technological tool for prescriptive analytics, the step beyond predictive analytics that helps us determine how to implement and/or optimize optimal decisions. In business applications, it can assess future risks, quantify probabilities and in so doing, give us insights how to improve market penetration, customer satisfaction, security analysis, trade execution, fraud detection and prevention, while proving indispensable in land and air traffic control, national security and defence. There are also a host of healthcare applications such as patient-specific treatments for diseases and illnesses. Recently, the popular concept of "Singularity" was perceived by computer scientists. The idea was formally coined in 1993 by Vernor Vinge, a scientist and science fiction writer, who posited that … [Read more...] about Artificial intelligence driven by Softbank’s treasure chest
This week the capital will present two artistic gems, this afternoon and on Saturday. If you find yourself down Ledra street at 4pm, have a break from your stroll and stop off at the Diachroniki Gallery where artist Nefeli Ptohopoulou will be showing off her Musical World. Ptohopoulou, from Larnaca, grew up in an artistic environment as her father Petros Ptohopoulos was an accomplished artist whose paintings are displayed in 11 National Galleries and elsewhere. “My father inspired and guided me, but my innate love for art was always in me,” said the artist. She studied at the Fine Art Academy at the Aristotelian University of Salonica, a city which helped shape her artistic identity. Commenting on the influence the city has on her art, Ptohopoulou said “my father and the studies in Salonica were instrumental in shaping my course in art, but I believe that while an artist is still alive he continues to learn, develop, improve and change.” The Musical World … [Read more...] about Art builds up music and artificial intelligence
Whenever you search on Google for something you’re thinking about buying, you’re using a selection of keywords and signalling your intent to make a purchase. If you search for “brown shoes” and adverts appear in your search results suggesting where to get brown shoes, you’ve experienced “search retargeting”, a technique that brands are combining with artificial intelligence (AI) to figure out what makes consumers tick. By mapping and analysing the keywords that consumers use in their search queries, brands can learn more about what people actually want to buy. Read more: The lost tools of advertising are being reinvented for the digital age “Keywords are a great signal of intent,” says Carl White, co-founder of Nano Interactive, which provides search targeting technology to brands. “With the developments of AI techniques, you can feel out what people are really searching for. And you can make strong assumptions about what … [Read more...] about Keywords are the future as artificial intelligence transforms search advertising
When it comes to dreaming about the future, there are several key technological categories that manage to be both highly practical yet futuristic enough for us to consider. But just like with everything new, it has to replace the old, upending our world. The chief among those is artificial intelligence (AI). We do not have to wait at all to see AI's influence in our society and various sectors either. It has already made numerous tasks in a variety of sectors different with machine learning. Even as it is, we can safely say that artificial intelligence is living up to its hype gained from countless science fiction works – as long as you know where to look of course. However last week even those who are only partly aware of the future of artificial intelligence had something new to discover. Google introduced its artificial intelligence assistant dubbed Duplex. It was an impressive display, managing to wow the audience. As an artificial intelligence assistant, Google Duplex … [Read more...] about Can artificial intelligence save journalism?
Speaking at the conference, Jack Ma, the CEO of China’s number one tech company Alibaba, said that within the next few decades, Big Data will be able to revive the panned economy which will become highly efficient. He added that despite the widespread notion of the past century about the omnipotence of the free market’s so-called “invisible hand” of market mechanisms regulating the entire system and planned economy’s alleged inability to efficiently distribute resources, in the next 30 years, state-run economy could play an increasingly important role. © AFP 2018 / FRED DUFOURChinese Company Poised to Create AI-Controlled "Sex Cyborgs" (PHOTO, VIDEO)Why? Because an AI analysis of Big Data will make it possible to optimize resource distribution, thus eliminating the main downside of planned economy. This opinion was fully echoed by Professor Feng Xiang, who believes that … [Read more...] about Will Artificial Intelligence Bring Karl Marx’s Ideas to Life?
