Ginger Rough Indianapolis Star Published 9:24 PM EDT Mar 26, 2019 INDIANAPOLIS – It was supposed to be a fun night of partying in Florida to celebrate Alec Tanoos’ 21st birthday. The four men from Indiana, two sets of brothers who are cousins, spent part of their spring break at a bar in South Beach. They headed home in the early hours and stopped for gas around 3:45 a.m. That’s when a man wearing a mask and brandishing a gun ran over and stuck it into Tanoos’ ribcage. “Give me everything you’ve got!” the gunman allegedly said. Tanoos’ older brother, Jacob, who is 27, immediately grabbed a hold of the gunman’s shirt, yanked him away and tried to take the gun, while punching him repeatedly. Their cousins, Aric and Alex Wisbey, joined the fray. And the entire scene was captured on camera. Surveillance video released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office shows the four young men, all originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, … [Read more...] about Spring breakers fight back against gunman at Florida gas station
Only a few days ago, the Irishman completed his court-mandated five days of community service after pleading guilty to a single violation of disorderly conduct in Brooklyn criminal court, last July. Two months previous he had been caught on camera — wild, wide-eyed and ranting — hurling a metal hand truck into the window of a charter bus full of his contemporaries at a UFC press event. As part of his punishment, McGregor worked at several Brooklyn churches among the desperate and downtrodden. He faced no jail time, was handed no criminal record, and his travel visa was not affected. Laughably, he was also instructed to attend an anger management programme lasting one to three days. Looks like that one didn't work out too well. With those commitments fulfilled, fans began to grow excited over his return to competition. A fight with long-term adversary Donald Cerrone was said to be in the works. A rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov hovered lucratively in the distance beyond … [Read more...] about Conor McGregor arrested: ‘The real tragedy is that, once upon a time, Conor McGregor was seen to represent a new and confident Ireland’
The Associated Press Published 10:50 AM EST Feb 21, 2019 SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Investigators searched for decades for the killer of an 11-year-old girl who disappeared while walking home from summer school in a case that gripped a California seaside community. A photo of a smiling Linda O’Keefe has hung for years on the wall of the police department in Newport Beach, reminding investigators to keep pressing forward on cold cases like hers. More than four decades later, authorities in Southern California said Wednesday that a Colorado man has been arrested and charged with killing her in 1973. The announcement came the same day authorities said they charged a man with killing an 11-year-old boy near Los Angeles in 1990. In Linda’s case, authorities said they got a hit last month from a genealogical database that matched a DNA sample taken when her body was found strangled in a ditch a day after she went missing. Increasingly, investigators have found a powerful … [Read more...] about Linda O’Keefe: Authorities arrest man in 45-year-old murder case
