Martin Lewis has been fighting our corner for two decades. The world could have been a very different place if the money saving expert had carried on with his stand-up comedy career. But thankfully for us, perhaps in more ways than one, Martin switched to a very different role as a financial advisor. Martin has been behind some incredibly successful campaigns over the years, taking on unfair bank charges, uncapped energy bills and student finance. He decided to take a step back from his Good Morning Britain duties in July last year, but has stayed on our screens on Martin's Money Saving Tips. The finance hero will be marking his 100th show with a quick trip down memory lane, so here's a look at his life away from the cameras. Comedy career Before becoming the nation's money saving expert, Martin actually tried his hand at stand-up comedy. While he was General Secretary of the Students' Union at the London School of Economics, Martin became friends with comedian Gary … [Read more...] about Martin Lewis’ celebrity wife, adorable ‘mini me’ daughter and surprise comedy career

Coronavirus news UK update – A Levels and GCSEs SCRAPPED for 2021 as schools told testing & masks won’t be compulsory
SCHOOLS won't have to enforce face masks or carry out regular testing on pupils, it was revealed today. Speaking to Good Morning Britain this morning, education minister Nick Gibb said twice-weekly testing will not be compulsory for pupils to go to school in England but remains “highly recommended”. With pupils returning to schools in March 8, Gibb confirmed a "no test, no school" policy is not in place but said he hopes the majority of students will volunteer to test themselves at home twice a week before coming in to school. "No, they’re not compulsory but we highly recommend it, it’s everybody doing everything we can to identify asymptomatic cases of Covid , helping to reduce the transmission," he said. "The first three tests will be taken in the school that will show the students how to do it most effectively and it’s the students themselves that will do it at home with supervision by their parents," he added. Meanwhile, normal summer exams have been ditched and … [Read more...] about Coronavirus news UK update – A Levels and GCSEs SCRAPPED for 2021 as schools told testing & masks won’t be compulsory
‘Normal’ summer hope for Brits as lockdown to end on June 21 after 4 key steps
Boris Johnson has raised hopes of a ‘normal’ summer by announcing plans to lift all Covid restrictions in England by June 21. The Prime Minister set out a four-step easing of restrictions starting with the return of all children to school and social mixing outdoors ( see below ). He predicted that the success of the vaccine roll-out meant: “Today the end really is in sight”. Mr Johnson told MPs: “A wretched year will give way to a Spring and a Summer that will be incomparably better”. He later added that the “crocus of hope is poking through the frost”. But in a dramatic shift in tone, he stressed that his approach must now be “cautious” to avoid a fourth national lockdown. And he admitted that he could not guarantee that the measures would be “irreversible” - although he wanted them to be. What is your view? Have your say in the comments section Tory MPs have urged him to lift measures by April 26 now that more than 17.7m people have received their first Covid … [Read more...] about ‘Normal’ summer hope for Brits as lockdown to end on June 21 after 4 key steps
