Nagorno-Karabakh conflict creeps closer to Armenia’s capital
Armenia reiterated on Friday that it was "ready" for international mediators to help end hostilities with Azerbaijan over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh as fighting between the neighbors raged for a sixth day. Baku has insisted only the Armenian withdrawal from the region, recognized internationally as Azerbaijani territory, can guarantee a ceasefire. Armenia said that its military shot down drones belonging to Azerbaijani forces with one reaching within 10 miles of Yerevan, although Baku denies this. "Armenian air defense forces have already eliminated three [drones]," the Armenian government tweeted on Thursday, as the dispute over the predominantly Armenian-populated region threatens to draw in Turkey and Russia. Ministers plan to introduce legislation to change Northern Ireland's post-Brexit trade arrangements in coming weeks as it faces a "very grave and serious situation", Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has announced. The government argues that without resolving problems caused by the Northern Ireland Protocol it will not be able to re-establish the Stormont power sharing executive and preserve progress made since the Good Friday Agreement. The protocol averts the return of a hard border with the Republic of Ireland but has resulted in a new border in the Irish Sea - because some goods coming in from Britain are subject to customs checks. Liam Joseph, 29, and his brother Dijon are suing the Met Police after they were forcibly searched by officers in Deptford in February 2018. The brothers believe they were targeted because they are black. The Met Police said there "were no findings of wrongdoing" in relation to the incident. The brothers told the BBC that officers suspected the pair had exchanged drugs. One officer restrained Liam, while a second rifled his pockets and - despite finding nothing suspicious - took his keys and searched his car. Hip-hop trio N-Dubz are set to make a sensational comeback , more than a decade after they first split. The London group have announced a new single and a forthcoming UK tour. The N-Dubz reunion marks the return of one of the biggest UK groups of the 2000s. The group - consisting of Tulisa , Dappy and Fazer - first formed in 2000 and racked up a string of hit singles and three platinum-selling albums before calling it quits in 2011. Comeback single Charmer will be released this Thursday (May 19).
