Kellogg’s loses legal challenge against new government food rules for high-sugar cereals
Kellogg's has lost a legal challenge against the government over new food regulations that would stop some of its cereals being prominently displayed in shops. The maker of Coco Pops and All-Bran took legal action against the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) over the rules, which come into force this October. Under the plans, there will be restrictions on where certain types of foods can be displayed in supermarkets or on their websites. Another part of the regulations taking effect next year will ban multi-buy promotions of foods deemed high in fat, sugar or salt. Shops will not be allowed to promote these types of foods in high-profile locations such as checkouts, shop entrances and aisle ends. Advertisement Kellogg's argued the regulations are unlawful because the nutritional value of breakfast cereals will be determined by their dry weight as sold, as opposed to how they are eaten - usually with milk. UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss to say UK will ‘do everything possible to ensure Ukraine wins war’
Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will pledge that the UK will "do everything possible to ensure Ukraine wins the war and recovers". She will tell the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Switzerland today that the UK will support the embattled nation for the "long haul" and resist Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion. The Foreign Office said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked the UK to champion the recovery of the capital Kyiv and the surrounding region. But attempts to rebuild the area are made more challenging by Russia's ability to hit the capital with missiles as the Kremlin's forces slowly advance in the east. Ms Truss will use the conference in the city of Lugano to set out a vision to give both immediate and long-term support to Ukraine. Tenant from hell left my property covered in cockroaches & human waste after using shower as TOILET – it’s uninhabitable
A DISGUSTED landlady has revealed his horror when she entered a property she was renting out and found cockroaches and human waste on the carpet in New Zealand. The landlady's family had invested over $50,000 (£25,000) doing the property up as an investment for the future before the grim discovery. Because of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, the owner had not been able to visit the property, and had no choice but to trust her tenants. When she was finally able to inspect the property earlier this year, however, she could not believe her eyes. The front porch was submerged under piles of boxes and bin bags, the floor was soiled and almost everything in the house had been destroyed, from the shower tpe dishwasher. The landlady, who remains anonymous, was forced to wear protective equipment due to the condition of the house now rendered inhabitable. Victoria and David Beckham are celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary in July 2022. It’s hard to believe so much time has passed – and even crazier to think that their son Brooklyn Beckham and new wife Nicola Peltz just had their own lavish ceremony this past April. Here’s all you need to know about their nuptials. Where did Victoria and David Beckham get married? The Beckhams went for a Robin Hood theme for their fairytale wedding, which took place just outside of Dublin, Ireland at Luttrellstown Castle – a venue dating back to 1794. The 14-bedroom property sits on 560 acres and comes with its own golf course, while its towering stone wall surely meant they had plenty of privacy for their special day. For easy summer makeup, sheer and balmy textures are the way to go – here are our top buys
Summer is around the corner and with the hot weather comes the reality of a sweatier, oilier face. So our makeup tends to get lighter in consistency, with foundations swapped out for skin tints and heavy powders ditched. Makeup in sheer or balmy textures becomes a blessing. While it’s not the most mask transfer-proof finish, a sheer texture is quick and easy to top up. Usually only a quick blend with the pad of a finger (over a brush and sponge) is all you need. Dominic Skinner, global senior artist at MAC Cosmetics tells Metro.co.uk these textures also allow you to experiment with playful colours in a failsafe way. Using blusher as an example, he says: ‘Bold looks always find a way to filter to the high street. ‘So a bold, yet sheer, pop of blush has its origins in fashion week but made more wearable.’ So as well as being quicker to apply and less heavy on the skin, you can afford to go brighter or more statement than you normally would, in the knowledge … [Read more...] about For easy summer makeup, sheer and balmy textures are the way to go – here are our top buys
Warning over Google location data being weaponised to target US women seeking abortions
US lawmakers are urging Google to ‘stop unnecessarily collecting’ customer location data that can be used to identify people who’ve had abortions. On Wednesday, 42 US Democrats signed an open letter to Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, cautioning him against the company’s advertising-focused digital infrastructure possibly being weaponised against women . ‘In a world in which abortion could be made illegal, Google’s current practice of collecting and retaining extensive records of cell phone location data will allow it to become a tool for far-right extremists looking to crack down on people seeking reproductive health care,’ said the letter . While Google insists on a warrant before disclosing location data to law enforcement, if abortion is made illegal by the Supreme Court , prosecutors can obtain legal warrants to ‘hunt down, prosecute and jail women’ for seeking abortions. The lawmakers pointed out that Google often shares its trove of historical location information of … [Read more...] about Warning over Google location data being weaponised to target US women seeking abortions
Single-sex toilets ‘to be mandatory’ in all new public buildings
New public buildings will be required to have separate single-sex toilets under government plans, it has been reported. Schools, hospitals, offices and entertainment venues over a certain size will be among the spaces impacted, in a bid from ministers to stop venues from having solely gender-neutral facilities. It’s believed the move is being pushed by Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch who thinks it is both legal and necessary to have single-sex space for both men and women. It is understood to have been quietly approved by ministers last month. It comes after transgender rights campaigners previously argued that gender-neutral toilets can reassure transgender people who fear discrimination in binary bathrooms. The change will see planning and building regulations require new buildings to have a self-contained space for women-only facilities, and partitions in current unisex bathrooms. Buildings undergoing refurbishment, where consent is required for the works, … [Read more...] about Single-sex toilets ‘to be mandatory’ in all new public buildings
