Russian troops are occupying the sprawling Zaporizhzhia plant by the Dnieper River in southern Ukraine. It is Europe's biggest nuclear plant. The Ukrainian staff are still operating it, but Russia has sent its own nuclear experts to monitor their work. Russia's deputy prime minister has vowed to sell power from it to Ukraine. On 2 January, musician and podcaster John Roderick shared a Twitter thread about how his hungry nine-year-old daughter had asked him for some baked beans . In a series of 23 tweets, Roderick, who has since deleted his Twitter account, explains how wanted his daughter to learn how to open the can of baked beans herself, writing: “a teaching moment just dropped in my lap!" According to screenshots of his tweets shared on Twitter, he goes on to explain how his daughter couldn’t figure out how the can opener worked - and, hoping that she would figure it out on her own, Roderick refused to tell her. According to Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office, seven people were killed and 27 were injured. The head of the International Criminal Court called Ukraine "a crime scene" after visiting with Ukrainian officials in cities like Bucha. Travel journalists and researchers Asher and Lyric Fergusson have ranked 203 countries for the third LGBTQ+ Travel Safety Index using a range of factors including discrimination, marriage equality, morality laws and transgender murder rates. Aviva’s chief executive has told detractors to judge her on performance and not on what she wears, after she suffered a raft of sexist abuse at the company’s annual meeting last week. Amanda Blanc told The Telegraph that she wants “results to be the focus of attention rather than being judged on whether I wear trousers”, adding that she has received thousands of messages of support since the incident. The FTSE 100 chief’s comments came after three small investors made “simply inappropriate” remarks at Aviva’s annual meeting in London last Monday. One individual investor said that Ms Blanc is “not the man for the job” while another asked whether she should be “wearing trousers” as he mentioned some of her male predecessors.
