Family slammed for bullying pregnant woman over “risk” baby has red hair
A heavily pregnant woman has vented her frustration at feeling "bullied" by family members over the fact her baby may have red hair. Red might be the rarest human hair color in the world, but redheads nevertheless account for a significant proportion of the population. According to online geography resource website WorldAtlas, redheads represent around 2 to 6 percent of the U.S. population, or somewhere between 6 and 18 million people. Despite this, a certain stigma persists among the redheaded population , not least when it comes to dating . A 2012 study saw a group of men and women put on different colored wigs in a dating setting to see who would be approached the most. Redheads suffered the most rejection with just 13.8 percent of men wearing the red wigs being asked to dance, compared with 35 percent of the men donning black locks. It wasn't just restricted to men either. The women wearing red wigs found they were approached by just 29 men, which was … [Read more...] about Family slammed for bullying pregnant woman over “risk” baby has red hair
Censure vote vs Sri Lankan leader fails as crisis simmers
Sri Lanka's ruling party on Tuesday defeated a move in Parliament to urgently debate a motion censuring President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for the nation's worst economic crisis, which the prime minister said has left enough gasoline stocks for only a day. It's unclear when the motion will be taken up again. It doesn't legally bound Rajapaksa to quit, but his refusal to do so has already roiled Sri Lanka, which is on the brink of bankruptcy as it negotiates with other countries and institutions an economic lifeline to be able to import basic supplies, medicines and fuel. M.A Sumanthiran, a lawmaker from the opposition Tamil National Alliance, proposed that Parliament bypass the usual procedure to take up the motion against Rajapaksa urgently. But the ruling party defeated the motion with a 119-68 vote. Protesters have occupied the entrance to the president's office for more than a month calling for Rajapaksa's resignation. Months of anti-government rallies have led to … [Read more...] about Censure vote vs Sri Lankan leader fails as crisis simmers
Tinder adds STD testing locator to its website—good luck finding it
The dating app Tinder (or hookup app, depending on whom you ask ) has added an HIV and sexually transmitted disease testing locator on its website—but good luck finding it. While Tinder's move is laudable—as some STD rates in the United States hit an all-time high —the finished product is disappointing, despite considerable hoopla from Tinder, Healthvana and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF). First, the STD locator on Tinder is just a link that takes anyone interested to health startup Healthvana's website. And to get to the link, you need to click on a tiny gray "health safety" button on the bottom right on the Tinder home page, then scroll down to the end of the health safety page to the link. On the mobile app, where Tinder really happens, you needs to click on the settings button on the top left, then click "help & support," transfer over to a Web browser, click on "health safety" and then scroll down to the STD locator link. Tinder's decision to adopt an STD … [Read more...] about Tinder adds STD testing locator to its website—good luck finding it
