NIGEL FARAGE called for migration to Britain to be slashed to 50,000 a year and a £200bn spend on the NHS and high streets as he announced his party's general election policies today. The Brexit Party leader unveiled his party's election battle plan at this morning's Westminster launch. Promising to help "ordinary people", he also pledged to campaign for a "clean break" Brexit "from all EU institutions" as his party unveiled its Contract With The People, rather than a traditional party manifesto. A revolt by Labour voters in the North and Midlands against Jeremy Corbyn’s bid to block Brexit could hand Boris Johnson victory in next month’s General Election. The Tories are on course to win about 30 seats in Labour’s English heartlands on December 12 thanks to a dramatic swing against Mr Corbyn’s party since the 2017 election, according to a Daily Mail poll. All are in areas which voted to leave the EU. The Survation poll for the Daily Mail shows that large parts of the north of England could return their first Conservative MP in generations The Conservatives have leads of up to 20 percentage points in 43 Labour-held seats they are targeting in the North and Midlands. Mr Johnson needs a swing of just 5 per cent to gain 16 Labour … [Read more...] about Northern heartlands desert Jeremy Corbyn: Brexit revolt in traditional Labour seats could hand victory to Boris Johnson as poll shows PM is on course to breach ‘Red Wall’
Nigel Farage is hoping to enlist the climate science denier Donald Trump to help lead a global campaign to plant billions of trees to capture CO2. The Brexit party leader, a friend of the US president, is due to make the announcement in Westminster on Friday as his party launches its version of an election manifesto. Described as a “contract with the British people”, the party’s focus on the environment with the support of the US may be part of an attempt to broaden its appeal to voters beyond those looking to vote for a hard form of Brexit. Speaking to the Guardian, Farage said the UK should become the face of a worldwide UN initiative. “The UK should spearhead a global initiative at the United Nations to plant billions of trees around the world and I have every confidence Britain would get support from the American administration on this,” he said. “If it’s true that an area the size of Devon and Cornwall is removed from the Amazon every … [Read more...] about Farage hoping to enlist help of Trump in Brexit party tree-planting plan
