Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez is buying a £2 million pad with his fashion student lover just a year after they began dating. Taylor Ward – daughter of millionaire Real Housewives of Chelsea star Dawn – has moved into a rented city centre penthouse with the Algerian player. But they’ve just completed on a luxury flat nearby and are currently employing Dawn’s high-end interior design firm Arista to do the place up. This was in 1767 when the part of south-east London embracing the Elephant and Castle, Walworth and Peckham was a place of market gardens, brickworks, barge building, beekeeping and a zoo, and through which flowed the river Peck and Great Surrey canal. What it was not was a place of angels with dirty faces, nor sink estates. Sink estates are places where hearts sink lower than any forgotten south London canal or river. The North Peckham estate, built between 1969 and 1975, and where 10-year-old Damilola Taylor was murdered in 2000, has already been demolished. Stop Asian Hate: NYC doormen fired for failing to intervene in attack on Asian-American woman
Two doormen accused of failing to help an Asian-American woman as she was being attacked on a New York street have been fired. Security footage appeared to show the pair look on from inside the luxury apartment block where they worked as 65-year-old Vilma Kari was repeatedly kicked and stamped on just feet away. One of them was even seen to close the building's door as she lay on the ground seconds after the attack ended. They did not go outside and approach the victim until more than a minute after the assault ended and the thug had walked away. Ms Kari, who emigrated from the Philippines several decades ago, was attacked outside the Manhattan building while walking to church.
