Allegiant Air is a small, ultra-low-cost carrier based in Las Vegas, that happens to be one of the country's most profitable airlines. But, according to federal aviation records and interviews with pilots, mechanics and industry experts, it may also be the most dangerous. The airline flew 12 million passengers last year on its 99 planes to 120 destinations from California to Florida. But it's had persistent problems since at least the summer of 2015 when it experienced a rash of mid-air breakdowns, including five on a single day. It was not a fluke. Public documents show an alarming number of aborted takeoffs, cabin pressure loss, emergency descents, and unscheduled landings. Yet for the most part, allegiant's difficulties have managed to stay under the radar of the flying public. It's entirely possible that you have never heard of Allegiant or flown on one of its planes. But if you shop for the cheapest ticket, live near cities like Pittsburgh or Cincinnati that are underserved by … [Read more...] about Allegiant Air: The budget airline flying under the radar

A plane passenger was arrested after he was accused of stripping naked to watch porn on his laptop before allegedly attacking a stewardess. The 20-year-old took off all of his clothes shortly after the Malindo Air flight took off from Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia, according to local reports. As the plane travelled towards Dhaka, Bangladesh, he is said to have initially agreed to put his clothes back on when crew members asked him to. However he then tried to 'hug' a female crew member while on his way to the toilet, New Straits Times newspaper reported. The student allegedly became more aggressive when his advances were rejected. The man also masturbated and urinated on his seat, according to website Star Online. Crew members, along with passengers, were then able to restrain him and tie his hands behind his back. The airline said in a statement on Facebook on Sunday: “With regards to the incident about a disruptive passenger on board OD162 to Dhaka on March 3, the crew on board … [Read more...] about Man arrested on plane after ‘stripping naked and attacking stewardess’
Technical faults, poor weather conditions and unruly passengers have all caused flights to be delayed at some stage. However, some 200 passengers experienced the same fate when a stewardess on their flight forgot her mobile phone. The bizarre incident unfolded on Wednesday (7 February) when United Airlines flight 1789 from Calgary to Houston left Calgary International Airport over 90 minutes behind schedule. "United flight 1789 traveling from Calgary to Houston experienced a slight delay due to the crew needing to print out paperwork normally accessible on mobile devices," the airline said in a statement. The flight eventually landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston at 6pm local time (12am GMT), having been scheduled to arrive at 4.24pm instead. Trevor Bors, who flies the route once a month for work, told Texas-based broadcaster KHOU 11 News that initially passengers saw the funny side of the incident. "There are weather delays and mechanical delays," he was quoted as … [Read more...] about United Airlines flight delayed after stewardess forgets her mobile phone
A woman in New Zealand has urged a Malaysia to take measures against the "extremely short skirts" worn by flight attendants on one of the country's low-cost airlines. Wellington resident June Robertson, who has travelled to Malaysia twice a year over the last decade, said she had felt "very offended" by the uniform worn by stewardesses on AirAsia flights. In the letter to a Malaysian senator, Robertson recounted a "terrible" occasion when she saw an AirAsia stewardess' underwear after she bent over at an airport supermarket. In a separate incident, which unfolded on a flight from Auckland to Kuala Lumpur last October, Robertson asked a flight attendant who was serving her in business close to button up her jacket as she "had her blouse opened and I could see the top of her breasts". "I find it quite disgusting myself as not everyone appreciates this." According to the Malaysian Digest, the letter, which was subsequently shared on social meda, was addressed to senator Hanafi Mamat of … [Read more...] about Is Malaysia’s reputation being ruined by ‘breast-revealing’ AirAsia stewardess uniforms?
