The relatives of Graham Budden, Mark Darby and Tony Richardson, some not even born when they died, released white balloons into the sky on the 20th anniversary of their death.On July 26, 1998, the Kent Ambulance hit lower power cables and crashed into woodland near Blue Bell Hill. Wyn Davison, who has helped others all her life, will reach the big milestone on July 22 and people from far and wide are being urged to send her a birthday card.The family of Wyn made a similar appeal at Christmas, to make the festive season extra special for her, and hundreds of cards flooded in.She got more than 400 cards from across Sunderland and as far away as Australia.Now her nephew, Ron Clark, is hoping people will be as generous this time for her birthday.He said: “It was amazing for her to get 400 Christmas cards. A mum-of-three has spoken of the terrifying day an air ambulance came to rescue her daughter would wouldn't wake up. Claire Appleby, 44, couldn't get a response from nine-year-old Edie one morning last month. Her daughter, who has a rare neurological condition, was breathing strangely and had turned freezing cold. Paramedics, including an air ambulance, rushed to Edie's rescue as her mum grew increasingly fearful. 'There was absolutely no indication she was ill at all' On May 14, Claire had put Edie to bed as normal, with no clue of the nightmare that was to come. THE first fixture of the 2018 point-to-point season in the North Yorkshire region takes place tomorrow - the Yorkshire Area Point to Point Club meeting at Sheriff Hutton, on trainer Mick Easterby's land. The YAPPC will again donate a proportion of their profits to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, having raised more than £60,000 to date. The seven-race card begins at noon and a total of 142 entries has been received. Admission to the event is £10. The opening Club Members race has received a significant number of entries and has therefore been divided. Division one could see the return of last season's Yorkshire Stratford hero, Young Hurricane. Despite several below-par efforts at this meeting, he seems to be in the form of his life now.
