Albanians are exploiting modern slavery laws to avoid deportation after crossing the Channel, government sources have suggested, as figures showed record numbers are claiming to be victims of trafficking. Official data, published on Thursday, shows Albanians are now the top nationality claiming to be victims of modern slavery or trafficking, overtaking UK nationals. They accounted for more than a quarter (27 per cent) of the record 4,171 potential victims of modern slavery referred to the Home Office, under legislation brought in by Theresa May, in the second quarter of this year. The 1,130 Albanians claiming to be victims of trafficking or slavery are now ahead of UK nationals referred to the Home Office, at 1,013 or 24 per cent of the total. Third were Eritreans, substantially lower at 293 or seven per cent. Marcus Mumford , frontman of folk band Mumford & Sons , has revealed he was sexually abused as a child. The popular band first shot to fame in 2009 with the release of their hit Little Lion Man, with I Will Wait cementing their popularity upon its release in 2012. Marcus 35, recently launched a solo career and released new track Cannibal, which opens with the harrowing line: ‘I can still taste you and I hate it/ That wasn’t a choice in the mind of a child and you knew it.’ The lyricist, who is married to Carey Mulligan , has now opened up about the meaning of the song and revealed he was abused when he was six years old. Dilworth School’s former head of music has been jailed for sexually abusing boys in his care. Leonard Cave appeared at the High Court in Auckland on Friday where Justice Mary Peters sentenced him to eight years in prison. Cave was found guilty of abusing four boys from Auckland’s Dilworth School . Charges relating to a fifth boy were dismissed during his trial in May. The 75 year-old was also found guilty of sexually abusing another boy at Hamilton’s St Paul’s Collegiate . JERSEY Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was arrested for domestic violence in Los Angeles on April 21st 2021. The legal trouble came less than two years after he was arrested and charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Jenn Harley. According to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department records obtained by The Sun last year, Ronnie , 36, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. that day, and taken into custody at the Van Nuys jail. The Jersey Shore star was bailed out at 7:18 pm, and had to return to court to face charges on October 13th. The alleged victim had not been named, though Jenn's boyfriend confirmed she was not involved in the incident. In a lengthy expose in The Hollywood Reporter (THR), several of Rudin’s former staffers alleged that the producer, who already had a reputation for being hot-tempered, would regularly engage in verbally and physically abusive behavior in the office. A jury has ordered conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay over $45million in punitive damages to the parents of a Sandy Hook school shooting victim after claiming for years that the tragedy was a ‘hoax’. The $45million sum comes one day after the same jury ordered Jones to pay $4million to Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, the parents of 6-year-old victim Jesse Lewis. Jones is scheduled to be back in court next week in Connecticut, where juries will have to decide how much he will have to pay two more families of victims from the 2012 tragedy. Armie Hammer's life as a Hollywood star came crashing down amidst a flood of accusations involving sexual misconduct, possible cannibalism and other unseemly acts in early 2021. On Wednesday, talk about those allegations returned after Discovery+ released its first trailer for an upcoming documentary that features Hammer's accusers. The party returned the whip to Jonathan Edwards on Wednesday after legal advice and following a row about whether he should remain an independent. His wife, Emma Edwards, told BBC Wales it sends a message "that survivors of domestic abuse don't matter". Plaid Cymru and Mr Edwards have declined to comment. Gary Neville has been brought into Ryan Giggs' domestic abuse court case as Whatsapp messages and emails were read to the court. Manchester Crown Court was told that Giggs met Kate Greville in 2013 after she helped promote his Hotel Football venue, launched with ex-United teammate Neville. The 48-year-old is accused of using controlling and coercive behaviour. As well as 'bombarding' Ms Greville, she claims, with up to 50 messages an hour and threatened to ruin her career. She then later joined Giggs' company GG Hospitality, owned by him and his former Manchester United team-mate, in 2019 and emails from that time sent from Giggs' mobile phone and Ms Greville's work laptop were read to the court.
