Andy Whyment has insisted being voted runner-up on I’m A Celebrity won’t change him – and he will be back at work on Corrie as early as next week. The 38-year-old, known to millions as Kirk Sutherland on the Cobbles, says he is delighted people have finally seen the real him and beyond his hapless character. After being reunited with his wife Nichola, Andy said: “I might be in work next week. We’ve got filming next week. We break up on the 20th for two weeks. “I’m looking forward to getting back and just getting into my normal boring life of just sitting on the sofa, getting home from work, closing the front door and watching telly. “Corrie’s on series link, yeah, so I’ll be catching up on Corrie. I always do. “I’ll still remain myself. I’ll still go to Asda on a Friday, do the big shop with Nic. Casting JonBenét director on our obsession with the murder of a child pageant queen
1996 was the year the Spice Girls broke, the “Unabomber” was arrested, 35 people were massacred at Port Arthur in Tasmania, Lance Armstrong got cancer and John Howard defeated Paul Keating to become Australia’s 25th Prime Minister. It was also the year a little girl named JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in her family home on Boxing Day, in the picturesque American town of Boulder, Colorado. Virtual truth: face to face with immersive documentaries
Sitting on a stool opposite me is Aisha, a young American I’ve been asked to interrogate about her recent trip to Pakistan. “Did you visit any areas controlled by the Taliban?” I ask. “No, I did not,” she responds. Aisha is a hologram, and I’m “playing” a US customs officer in an augmented reality experience called Terminal 3. I spend 15 minutes in my fictional airport, asking her questions based on choices that appear in writing in my field of vision. My voice triggers her responses – which start off clipped and defensive but become increasingly intimate – to the point where I feel like I’d really like to hang out with her. Aisha is one of six participants of Muslim descent that were filmed with Depthkit technology to enable a surprisingly lifelike encounter that challenges stereotypes. It puts me in the position of authority – do I choose the tough questions or the softer ones? At the end I’m asked to … [Read more...] about Virtual truth: face to face with immersive documentaries
