Adopting your step daughter
I’m a young mum & don’t have rules at home – screen time is unlimited & I’ll let my daughter wear a thong to the beach
THERE’S plenty of different parenting styles out there and one mum has now shared her rather relaxed take on parenting. Young mum Kat Clark posted to TikTok sharing the five things she’ll never do as a parent, and a couple of her ideas are proving somewhat controversial. The first thing Kat says she'll never do is read her kid’s diary, adding that this rule will remain in place “unless it’s life or death.” She says that reading their diary is a huge invasion of privacy and should be for their eyes only. The mum says that alongside this, she’ll never force her children to eat, or finish their meal, if they don’t want to. “Obviously I’m going to encourage them to eat their vegetables but I would never punish them for not finishing their dinner,” she says, adding that she thinks this could cause the child to develop a bad relationship with food. Denise Richards Reveals The Reason She Ended ‘Very Toxic’ Marriage With Charlie Sheen | The Daily Wire
Denise Richards says she had a very good reason for ending her “toxic” marriage to Charlie Sheen even though she was six months pregnant at the time. The “Wild Things” star discussed her deeper motivations during a recent conversation with Caroline Stanbury, the host of the “Divorced Not Dead” podcast . “The behind-the-scenes stuff was way worse than what was out there,” she said of their tumultuous relationship. “It was really bad.” Richards claimed she made the decision to leave after asking herself one important question. She told Stanbury she wondered, “Would I want my daughters to be married to this man?” Since the answer was a definitive no, the mother of three made the choice to leave him. “No offense to him, but I think he would take that and understand what I’m saying,” Richards continued. “It was very toxic.” Sheen and Richards were married from 2002 until 2006 and had two children together. The Prophet’s Hair
A SHORT STORY BY SALMAN RUSHDIE EARLY IN 19—, WHEN SRINAGAR WAS UNDER the SPELL of a winter so fierce it could crack men’s bones as if they were glass, a young man upon whose coldpinked skin there lay, like a frost, the unmistakable sheen of wealth was to be seen entering the most wretched and disreputable part of the city, where the houses of wood and corrugated iron seemed perpetually on the verge of losing their balance, and asking in low, grave tones where he might go to engage the services of a dependably professional thief. The young man’s name was Atta, and the rogues in that part of town directed him gleefully into ever darker and less public alleys, until in a yard wet with the blood of a slaughtered chicken he was set upon by two men whose faces he never saw, robbed of the substantial bankroll that he had insanely brought on his solitary excursion, and beaten within an inch of his life. Night fell. His body was carried by anonymous hands to the edge of the lake, whence it … [Read more...] about The Prophet’s Hair

Ukraine war: Wheat export ships leave ports, Kyiv in POWs appeal, EU mulls Russia visa ban
1. First wheat export under UN deal as two more ships leave Ukraine Two more ships left Ukraine's Black Sea ports on Friday, including one laden with the first Ukrainian wheat to be exported under a UN-brokered deal, Turkey's defence ministry said. A total 14 ships have now departed from Ukraine over the past two weeks, following the deal with Russia to allow a resumption of grain exports from Ukraine's Black Sea ports, after they were stalled for five months due to the war. The Belize-flagged Sormovsky left Ukraine's Chornomorsk port on Friday, the Turkish ministry said, carrying 3,050 tonnes of wheat to Turkey's northwestern Tekirdag province. It was the first shipment of wheat from Ukraine, which, along with Russia, accounted for nearly a third of global wheat exports before February 24, when Moscow launched its full invasion of its neighbour. Ukraine has some 20 million tonnes of grain left over from last year's crop, while this year's wheat harvest is also … [Read more...] about Ukraine war: Wheat export ships leave ports, Kyiv in POWs appeal, EU mulls Russia visa ban

Engine purring: Kitten rescued from inside car after disappearing into exhaust pipe
This is the sight that met a helicopter engineer who was forced to dismantled a car to rescue an injured eight-week-old kitten after he saw it disappear into the car's exhaust pipe. Adam Hughes, a Leonardo Helicopters engineer, was on his way home from work at the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, in Cornwall, when he came across a kitten on the airfield. Mr Hughes, who had lost his family pet cat the day before, noticed the tiny stray was limping with a broken leg. However, as Mr Hughes and two junior aircrew approached the small grey-brown tabby, it jumped onto the exhaust pipe of a nearby Volkswagen Golf and ran into the car's engine chamber. The car's owner, who was in a nearby hangar, gave Mr Hughes permission to dismantle the car and a passing lorry driver offered his tools to help. "I was going home to comfort my family because we had lost our own cat Orlando to renal failure the day before," Mr Hughes said. "He had been a much-loved part of the family and … [Read more...] about Engine purring: Kitten rescued from inside car after disappearing into exhaust pipe
Paul Ryder, bass guitarist with the Happy Mondays – obituary
Paul Ryder, who has died suddenly aged 58, was a musician whose bass guitar-playing was the funky heartbeat of the Happy Mondays, the band he founded alongside his older brother Shaun; with their potent fusion of rock and dance music – and their gargantuan appetite for drugs – they were in the vanguard of the “Madchester” era of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Paul Anthony Ryder was born on April 24 1964 in Little Hulton, a suburb of Salford, 20 months after Shaun. Their mother Linda was a nursery nurse, their father Derek a postman. As teenagers, both lads were in regular trouble but, inspired by punk, they knew they wanted to be in a band. Paul bought himself a bass guitar and was soon proficient on it. “The grooves I played came from Northern soul and disco,” he recalled. “I can’t read music, so I just copied the basslines, but I could never get them spot-on so they turned into my own basslines.” With Paul and Shaun joined by Mark Day on guitar, Gary Whelan on drums and … [Read more...] about Paul Ryder, bass guitarist with the Happy Mondays – obituary
