Elon Musk's tweet last Friday seeking "hardcore streetfighters" to join Tesla's litigation department has been derided and trolled with thousands of mock job applications. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO's Twitter job ad came one day after a bombshell report accused the tech mogul of sexual harassment in 2016. According to Insider , a former flight attendant and SpaceX employee alleged that Musk exposed his penis to her and offered to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage. SpaceX later paid the woman $250,000 to settle her sexual misconduct accusation, Insider reported. Musk has dismissed the allegation as a "politically motivated hit piece." The world's richest man also recently made news for agreeing to buy Twitter in a $44 billion deal on April 14. A month later, he announced that the deal was "temporarily on hold" pending details over fake accounts. In the tweeted job ad for lawyers to join Tesla, Musk said, "Tesla is building a hardcore litigation … [Read more...] about Elon Musk’s job ad for a “hardcore” lawyer gets trolled on Twitter

Report simulating deadly monkeypox outbreak was released six months ago
Last year, current and former world leaders joined experts to conduct a tabletop exercise simulating a deadly monkeypox outbreak. And now, the results of that exercise are attracting fresh attention, with monkeypox making headlines after cases were reported in a dozen countries —including the U.S., U.K. and Australia—in a surprising outbreak of a disease that rarely appears outside of Africa. The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) partnered with the Munich Security Conference for its annual exercise on March 17, 2021—virtually due to COVID-19— and summarized the scenario, key findings and actionable recommendations in a report released in November. The NTI's exercise scenario portrayed "a deadly, global pandemic involving an unusual strain of monkeypox virus that emerged in the fictional nation of Brinia and spread globally over 18 months," the report said. In the scenario, the initial (simulated) outbreak was caused by a terrorist attack in May 2022 "using a pathogen engineered … [Read more...] about Report simulating deadly monkeypox outbreak was released six months ago

Walmart apologizes for Juneteenth ice cream flavor after backlash
Walmart is apologizing for a new flavor of ice cream called "Juneteenth," which sparked a backlash and criticism that the company was attempting to cash in on the holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. In a statement to Fox Television Stations, Walmart said it is reviewing its product assortment "and will remove items as appropriate." It added, "Juneteenth holiday marks a celebration of freedom and independence. However, we received feedback that a few items caused concern for some of our customers and we sincerely apologize." Walmart didn't immediately return a request for comment to CBS MoneyWatch. The Juneteenth flavor — swirled red velvet and cheesecake — caused a social media uproar, with some Twitter users pointing out that the ice cream flavor appeared tone-deaf, given it was sold by a company founded by a White family and run by a White CEO. Some people urged consumers to support a Black-owned business called Creamalicious, which has its own version of … [Read more...] about Walmart apologizes for Juneteenth ice cream flavor after backlash

Revolutionary Le Mans 2022 team Iron Dames aiming high as only all-female racing team
When the 90th edition of the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans gets underway next month, Italian racing team Iron Dames will be the only all-female line-up on the grid. The gruelling endurance race, which begins on June 11 and ends the nest day, will feature talent ranging from ex- Formula One driver and last year’s winner Kamui Kobayashi to Hollywood star Michael Fassbender. But looking to make an impact at her fourth consecutive Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance (LMGTE) Am race in a Ferrari 488 is Swiss driver Rahel Frey. She will race alongside team-mates Sarah Bovy and Michelle Gatting, who will compete day and night at the Circuit de la Sarthe, north-west France, under the name ‘Iron Dames’. Frey at 36 is no stranger to the challenges presented by Le Mans, having first taken to the famous track back in 2010. ‘We Just Need To Celebrate Having Kids’: Elon Musk Sounds Off On America’s Dwindling Birthing Rate | The Daily Wire
Billionaire and tech visionary Elon Musk sounded the alarm about America’s dwindling birth rate on Tuesday while saying that the solution is, in part, to “celebrate having kids.” Musk has warned about the world’s underpopulation in the past but focused specifically on the United States in his latest comments. The potential new owner of Twitter added that America’s birth rate has been unsustainable for half a century. “USA birth rate has been below min sustainable levels for ~50 years,” Musk tweeted. Contrary to what many think, the richer someone is, the fewer kids they have. I am a rare exception. Most people I know have zero or one kid. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 24, 2022 Musk, who has eight children, also added that wealthier people tend not to have as many children. “Contrary to what many think, the richer someone is, the fewer kids they have. Bundesliga playoff: Hertha Berlin stay up as Felix Magath breaks hearts in Hamburg
Hamburg 0-2 Hertha Berlin (1-2 on aggregate) Volksparkstadion It was Hertha's night in the Hanseatic City, a goal in each half overturning Hamburg's 1-0 lead from the first leg — and seeing Hertha Berlin survive another turbulent season. For Hamburg, their first leg victory offers hope for the future under coach Tim Walter, but a fifth season in the second tier awaits. The atmosphere in the Volksparkstadion was bouncing to Hamburg's beat, but that was pierced with three minutes and 13 seconds on the clock by Dedricyk Boyata, the Hertha Berlin captain rising like a salmon to glance in Marvin Plattenhardt's pinpoint corner. This became a tense night with the game on a knife-edge until just after the hour, when Plattenhardt produced a moment of magic – or perhaps it was a cross? – a lofted freekick that resembled the goal scored by Hamburg's Ludovit Reis in the first leg at the capital's Olympiastadion. For Plattenhardt, a goal and an assist for the game's standout player. … [Read more...] about Bundesliga playoff: Hertha Berlin stay up as Felix Magath breaks hearts in Hamburg
