Babar drills the first, overpitched, through mid-on for a single. Squeezing it into the ground took the pace off it and allowed the fielder to cut it off. Imam tucks a single fine off his pads and deflects another wayward delivery through leg slip for four, giving Buttler no chance. Babar plays a nice late cut down to third man off an 84mph delivery from that same line regardless of whether he is bowling to right- or left-hander. There's a cross-seam wide, too, in a shoddy start by Plunkett. The pitch has dried out in 45 minutes of play and lost some of its serpents. Eight off the over. 2:54PM OVER 9: PAK 27/1 (Imam-ul-Haq 13* Babar 8* ) Imam-ul-Haq unsheathes … [Read more...] about England vs Pakistan, first ODI: live score updates

OPINION: I was the first journalist in the media room at Canberra's main stadium after the 2000 Super 12 rugby final. Front row, best seats in the house. A few other journos straggled in and sat behind me. I had the front row of plastic chairs to myself. Beside me, on a table, sat a nice tray of sausage rolls and the fridge was full of soft drinks. A couple of scattered match programmes lay on the floor. There are many times in my media career where I've felt honoured to be seated up front after an event. Olympic gold medallists, World Cup winners, big retirements or the signing of superstars are fun and historic. But press conferences of losing teams in big finals are sombre affairs. No-one is happy, even if the team played well. There's no talk of "next week", because there isn't. It's over... forever... they lost. The "they" who lost on that chilly night 19 years ago were the ACT Brumbies, the team I followed, from the region where I grew up. They'd lost to the Crusaders by one … [Read more...] about Craig Norenbergs: One cold night in Canberra, when Brumbies, Crusaders ruled Super Rugby

Here's everything we know about the bizarre interruption and how Jack Grealish reacted to the assault. What happened to Jack Grealish? A Birmingham City fan ran on to the pitch just ten minutes into a game against Aston Villa on Sunday, March 10. The intruder, Paul Mitchell, charged into Villa captain Jack Grealish him and punched him before officials wrested him off the pitch. Grealish, 23, sat on the St Andrew's turf before being helped up by players from both teams and was able to continue - later scoring Villa's winning goal in the 67th minute. A statement by the footballer read: "Jack Grealish was shocked and scared because if this person was brazen enough to get onto the pitch, what else could he do?" The Football Association said it "strongly condemned the incident", adding it would be "working with the police, the relevant … [Read more...] about What happened to Jack Grealish and why did Paul Mitchell punch him at the Birmingham City vs Aston Villa game?
