Marcus Mumford , frontman of folk band Mumford & Sons , has revealed he was sexually abused as a child. The popular band first shot to fame in 2009 with the release of their hit Little Lion Man, with I Will Wait cementing their popularity upon its release in 2012. Marcus 35, recently launched a solo career and released new track Cannibal, which opens with the harrowing line: ‘I can still taste you and I hate it/ That wasn’t a choice in the mind of a child and you knew it.’ The lyricist, who is married to Carey Mulligan , has now opened up about the meaning of the song and revealed he was abused when he was six years old. A mother who abused her child so badly he had to have his legs amputated may be kept in jail for longer. Parents Jody Simpson and Anthony Smith were both jailed for 10 years in 2018 for torturing their son, Tony Hudgell, who is now seven. Tony's case led to public outcry and calls for child abusers to be given life behind bars . Simpson was due to be released on licence at the halfway point of her prison sentence on Friday, but Justice Secretary Dominic Raab has referred her case to the Parole Board. Tony's new mother, Paula Hudgell, said she felt "over the moon" with the potential change to Simpson's sentence, and said it shows "how much Tony has touched everyone's hearts". A mother who neglected her son so badly he had to have his legs amputated could have her release from prison blocked. Parents Jody Simpson and Anthony Smith were both jailed in 2018 for abusing their son, Tony Hudgell, who is now aged seven. He was just six weeks old when his parents launched a vile assault on him which left him ‘close to death’. Tony spent 10 days at home in agony before eventually being taken to see a doctor, by which point sepsis had set in. It was discovered he had suffered from torn ligaments, broken fingers and was suffering from toxic shock as a result of the torture he endured. The damage to his legs was so severe that eventually doctors had no choice but to amputate them. Both abusers were jailed for 10 years apiece in 2018, which was then the maximum sentence for a child cruelty offence. On Wednesday, talk about those allegations returned after Discovery+ released its first trailer for an upcoming documentary that features Hammer's accusers. Academy Award-winning producer Scott Rudin (“The Social Network,” “No Country for Old Men”) has a reputation for allegedly abusing people in the workplace. In a lengthy expose in The Hollywood Reporter (THR), several of Rudin’s former staffers alleged that the producer, who already had a reputation for being hot-tempered, would regularly engage in verbally and physically abusive behavior in the office. Dilworth School’s former head of music has been jailed for sexually abusing boys in his care. Leonard Cave appeared at the High Court in Auckland on Friday where Justice Mary Peters sentenced him to eight years in prison. Cave was found guilty of abusing four boys from Auckland’s Dilworth School . Charges relating to a fifth boy were dismissed during his trial in May. The 75 year-old was also found guilty of sexually abusing another boy at Hamilton’s St Paul’s Collegiate . Albanians are exploiting modern slavery laws to avoid deportation after crossing the Channel, government sources have suggested, as figures showed record numbers are claiming to be victims of trafficking. Official data, published on Thursday, shows Albanians are now the top nationality claiming to be victims of modern slavery or trafficking, overtaking UK nationals. They accounted for more than a quarter (27 per cent) of the record 4,171 potential victims of modern slavery referred to the Home Office, under legislation brought in by Theresa May, in the second quarter of this year. The 1,130 Albanians claiming to be victims of trafficking or slavery are now ahead of UK nationals referred to the Home Office, at 1,013 or 24 per cent of the total. Third were Eritreans, substantially lower at 293 or seven per cent.
