Mum who abused son so badly he lost his legs could have prison release blocked
A mother who neglected her son so badly he had to have his legs amputated could have her release from prison blocked. Parents Jody Simpson and Anthony Smith were both jailed in 2018 for abusing their son, Tony Hudgell, who is now aged seven. He was just six weeks old when his parents launched a vile assault on him which left him ‘close to death’. Tony spent 10 days at home in agony before eventually being taken to see a doctor, by which point sepsis had set in. It was discovered he had suffered from torn ligaments, broken fingers and was suffering from toxic shock as a result of the torture he endured. The damage to his legs was so severe that eventually doctors had no choice but to amputate them. Both abusers were jailed for 10 years apiece in 2018, which was then the maximum sentence for a child cruelty offence. Simpson was due to be automatically released on licence at the halfway point of her prison sentence on Friday, despite pleas from adoptive mum Paula … [Read more...] about Mum who abused son so badly he lost his legs could have prison release blocked
‘Take a pay cut, b***h!’ – Manchester United and Chelsea target Frenkie de Jong abused by Barcelona fans
Frenkie de Jong was subject to shocking abuse from Barcelona fans as he arrived at the club’s training complex on Wednesday as he continues to be linked with a move away. Manchester United have been chasing the Dutch midfielder throughout the summer and agreed a £73million fee with Barca last month, though De Jong has so far snubbed a move to Old Trafford. The Dutchman is happy and settled in Barcelona and not keen to swap the sunshine and beaches of Catalonia for Manchester, while he is also unwilling to drop down to the Europa League . There is also an issue over deferred wages Barca still owe to De Jong, which amounts to around £14m – a tab the Catalan club want any buying club to pick up. United’s inability to convince De Jong or resolve the wage issue has opened the door to Chelsea in recent weeks, with the west Londoners now also close to agreeing a fee with Barca . However, De Jong still harbours significant reservations about leaving Camp Nou for the … [Read more...] about ‘Take a pay cut, b***h!’ – Manchester United and Chelsea target Frenkie de Jong abused by Barcelona fans

Armie Hammer's life as a Hollywood star came crashing down amidst a flood of accusations involving sexual misconduct, possible cannibalism and other unseemly acts in early 2021. On Wednesday, talk about those allegations returned after Discovery+ released its first trailer for an upcoming documentary that features Hammer's accusers. Record numbers of Albanians claiming to be victims of slavery ‘to avoid deportation’
Albanians are exploiting modern slavery laws to avoid deportation after crossing the Channel, government sources have suggested, as figures showed record numbers are claiming to be victims of trafficking. Official data, published on Thursday, shows Albanians are now the top nationality claiming to be victims of modern slavery or trafficking, overtaking UK nationals. They accounted for more than a quarter (27 per cent) of the record 4,171 potential victims of modern slavery referred to the Home Office, under legislation brought in by Theresa May, in the second quarter of this year.
