TOPSHOP know when they're onto a good thing, which could explain why they've released yet another version of their cult polka dot pinafore. And we're not complaining. The 80s-inspired floral style is totally dreamy - and it's got summer holiday vibes written all over it. The retro design is the exact same fit and style as the polka dot version, but features a multicoloured floral print instead. And we'd bet our last penny that it's going to fly off the shelves. The original style has been seen on heaps of celebs - including Kate Wright and Chloe Lewis - and was absolutely everywhere at this year's Royal Ascot. Scroll through your Instagram feed and we can guarantee you'll come across it at least once. 80s floral pinafore dress, £55, Topshop - buy now But, despite being restocked twice, both the black and white version of the dress have now totally sold out. A new bar has opened in a town centre which aims to attract customers who like to boogie and chill out. Saleem Qureshi and his wife Alaina have launched CJ's Bar in St John's Square, Burslem. The venue is a cocktail bar which has a dance floor, a resident DJ and a live singer once a month. She has run a marathon before, though it took her five months – she completed a mile after work every other Tuesday. While part of me is proud of her for attempting such a thing, a much larger part is getting thoroughly cheesed off with it all. The reason for this is that Mrs Canavan decided she needed the right gear to run a marathon and spent the equivalent of two months’ mortgage repayments purchasing a variety of running outfits along with three pairs of fancy trainers that have – or so the website she bought them from claims – ‘an adaptive arch and dual-density heel counter which flex with your foot’s natural movement and offers targeted support for a stable stride’. Ironic then that the first time she wore them she turned her ankle. The result of all this spending is that our house is now crammed full of running gear and has a permanent aroma of stale sweat. Three or four times a week, Mrs C will exit the lounge wearing perfectly normal … [Read more...] about STEVE CANAVAN: My wife’s marathon obsession has run its course with me
