Scientists have discovered what they believe is the strongest evidence to date that the continents were formed by giant meteor impacts during the Earth's early history. Meteorite impacts were "particularly prevalent during the first billion years or so of our planet's four-and-a-half billion year history", according to researchers from Curtin University. The theory that the continents were originally formed at the sites of these impacts has been around for decades, but there has been little solid evidence to support it - until now, says Dr Tim Johnson. "By examining tiny crystals of the mineral zircon in rocks from the Pilbara Craton in Western Australia, which represents Earth's best-preserved remnant of ancient crust, we found evidence of these giant meteorite impacts," Dr Johnson said. A man who murdered his bride within hours of their wedding and stuffed her body into a suitcase has been found guilty of her murder. The body of grandmother Dawn Walker, 52, was found in a field four days after she married Thomas Nutt on 27 October last year. Nutt, 45, killed Ms Walker shortly after their wedding, storing her body in a cupboard before putting it in a suitcase and dumping it in bushes behind their West Yorkshire home, Bradford Crown Court was told. Nutt did not give evidence in the trial, admitting manslaughter on the basis he "did not intend" to cause serious harm to his wife. A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a fellow schoolboy in north London. The unnamed 15-year-old suspect is being held by Metropolitan Police after the death of Deshaun James Tuitt, also 15, who was stabbed in Highbury Fields, Islington, just before 9pm on 4 August. He died later in hospital. A post-mortem ruled Deshaun's cause of death was a stab wound, shock, and haemorrhage. A 34-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, Scotland Yard said. Advertisement Police have renewed their appeals for information or footage. The Global Liveability Index released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) reveals the world’s best and worst places to live in 2022 and Karachi is among the top 10 worst places , once again. The index analysed and marked 172 cities for five factors: infrastructure, health care, education, culture, and entertainment. The most liveable cities in world were mostly in Europe and Canada due to good infrastructure and stability. The index, as quoted by CNBC , said that these cities provided good health care and multiple opportunities for entertainment. Austria’s city Vienna topped the list of top 10 places to live in the world. It achieved an overall rating of 95.1/100 where it scored a whopping 100 for education and infrastructure.
