A new power plant opened in Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia as part of the upgrades to the state power infrastructure. With the improvements, project proponents hope that it would provide a stable and efficient power supply to boost the socio-economic conditions of the state. The Government of Japan and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funded the $10.7 million project, according to information from the FSM government. The improvements include two 600kw diesel generators, a line upgrade to improve power distribution, and underground cables. The project contract started on Nov. 26, 2017 and ended on April 30 2019. Officials from JICA and the governments of Japan and FSM attended the opening of the power plant on Wed, March 27. Scott Gleeson USA TODAY Published 11:48 AM EDT Apr 2, 2019 The calendar has turned to April but that doesn't mean March Madness is over. The Final Four stage is set for Minneapolis with an unexpected cast, as No. 1 seed Virginia and No. 2 seed Michigan State were both overlooked in their respective brackets and Auburn and Texas Tech survived gauntlet regions to get here. The theme of unpredictability always dominates the NCAA tournament, so here's a look at some bold predictions for the final weekend. 1. First-timers win in semifinal games. Both Texas Tech and Auburn reached the Final Four for the first time in program history, but that doesn't mean they can't cut down the nets in Minneapolis. The Red Raiders have used a stifling defense to shut down some of the best offenses in the tournament and can ride the offense of Big 12 player of the year Jarrett Culver to get past a Michigan State team that has been turnover-prone at times in this … [Read more...] about Final Four: Five bold projections for the NCAA tournament semifinals
Comprehensive failings and weaknesses over several years led a Derby road project to be priced "over-optimistically" low and has resulted in its completion being delayed by at least 15 months and an estimated cost of £42 million - almost three times the original estimate. Motorists watched in disbelief as single lanes, night-time closures and reduced speed limits have frustrated their daily commute on the A52 since late 2017 - with no apparent end in sight and spiralling costs. But warning bells about the growing problems were only sounded last May - nine months after work had started on the project designed to improve the A52 - after the incoming Conservatives took over Derby City Council and it was well over its original budgeted cost. A newly-published report from the subsequent investigation ordered by the Tory administration has now revealed a catalogue of weak governance and weak risk, project and financial management arrangements in what has been called by the … [Read more...] about A52 project has been ‘poorly conceived and costed’ says damning report
The Vox Technology Park office project in Timisoara was awarded the BREEAM final green certificate with an ‘Excellent’ rating and a total score of 86.7 percent, the highest achieved by a real estate project in Romania and the only one with a score of over 85 percent. Scoring is a way of differentiating the sustainability of real estate projects, which translates into a much lower impact on the environment and lower operating costs, including lower costs for occupants – be they buyers, as in the case of a residential project, or companies, as in the case of an office building. In addition, developing a sustainable project also leads to creating a healthy and friendly work environment for employees, conducive to professional and personal development. “The final sustainable certification attests that we have not only achieved a beautiful model and an attractive story but delivered the most modern real estate project in Romania and implicitly from Timisoara, where … [Read more...] about Vox Technology Park named the greenest real estate project in Romania by BREEAM
Alex Casey for The Spinoff. The most anticipated reality TV event of the year, Celebrity Treasure Island may have just got its first castaway. Hit the dab, 2019, you've done it again. I might still be moderately drunk from Hogmanay, but The Spinoff has been handed some extremely piping hot intel from a high level source that Max Key is in talks to appear on Celebrity Treasure Island. The 23 year old, who is currently having a mild one in Vegas with his father and ex prime minister John Key, closed out our prediction list last year as most likely to wash up on our golden reality TV sands. Before you go popping the champagne, this tip-off is the third time that Key has been alleged to be 'in talks' for a local reality show, with rumours around both Project Runway NZ and Dancing With the Stars NZ making headlines in 2018. But on the other hand, as it is written in the bible, the third time's a charm. I, for one, am very into it. With … [Read more...] about Will Max Key wash up on Celebrity Treasure Island?
