A stretch of main road that was damaged after a burst main unleashed a torrent of water could be closed 'for the rest of the week'. Leicester Road through Oadby had to be shut after a 'large scale' water main burst yesterday leaving a heavy flow of water running several hours, pushing up and cracking road surfaces. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to London Road at the junction with Leicester Road at around 7.15am. Several businesses were affected by the leak which fire crews tackled using light portable pumps and dams. Local residents reported low pressure throughout the day but it is thought the water supply to homes wasn't turned off at any point. The section of Leicester Road from the Wigston Road junction to the London Road roundabout that runs beside St Peter's Church was closed from around 10am.
