Disney is revamping “The Proud Family,” a 20-year-old cartoon sitcom about an African American family, and will be featuring a cast that includes two interracial gay dads whose adopted daughter is a teenage racial activist. Actors Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter, both of whom are gay, will be playing Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins and Randall Leibowitz-Jenkins, respectively, according to Entertainment Weekly (EW). A TEEN fought for her life when she saw a massive alligator rush toward her with its jaws open near a boat dock on Sunday. The 13-year-old Tampa Bay girl said she struck the menacing gator as it tried to latch onto her - days after an elderly woman was dragged to her death by one of the predators. Briann Morr said she was swimming with friends at the Gardner Boat Ramp in Zolfo Springs when the gator charged her. "I turn around because I heard something go through the water, and the gator tried to grab my foot and I kicked my foot under the water," Briann told NBC 2 . The story of a dog who was covered in gasoline and set on fire has been shared millions of times online. Riona the dog was set on fire on June 20, WHBQ-TV reported. The pit bull mix suffered fourth degree burns to her face and first to second degree burns on the rest of her body. Tennessee authorities have been investigating the incident, and while no arrests have yet been made, a $20,000 reward for information is being offered, WHBQ-TV said. The dog was found running up and down the street covered in flames, in Nutbush, Memphis. She was then taken to Memphis Animal Services for treatment, according to the report. The Tails of Hope dog rescue service then took her in. The Tails of Hope decided to make Riona a TikTok page called Justice4Riona, in order to share her story. In the so-called kids-for-cash scandal, Pennsylvania state judges Mark Ciavarella, 72, and Michael Conahan, 70, shuttered a county-run juvenile detention center in exchange for $2.8million in illegal payments from the co-owner and builder of two for-profit jails. US District Judge Christopher Conner has awarded almost 300 plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the judges, with $106million in compensatory damages and $100million in punitive damages. The travel booking company found that domestic airfare over the holiday weekend will cost an average of $278 per round trip, marking a 20% increase over rates seen in 2019 and a 23% increase over those in 2021. Roughly 12.6 million passengers are expected to fly, with those leaving on Thursday, September 1, or Friday, September 2, witnessing the highest prices. “Prices remain at historically high levels as demand for travel has been strong throughout the summer after pent up demand from the prior two years due to the pandemic,” Hopper economist Hayley Berg wrote.
