A mum and her daughter died of Covid after 11 family members tested positive following a Christmas gathering. Paramjeet Bains, 43, died on January 5 when she suffered a major seizure just one day after being admitted to the intensive care unit at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton. Kashmir was admitted to the same unit and battled the virus for three weeks before her family took the heartbreaking decision to switch off her life support machine. According to brother and son Indy Bains, 11 members of his family caught the virus after they met on Christmas Day, the BBC reports. Mr Bains, 40, said the family was initially reluctant to gather but decided to spend a few hours together as his sister, who had learning disabilities, had suffered during isolation. Up to six in ten people who have already had Covid-19 could be vulnerable to a second infection from the new Brazilian variant. Early research from the city of Manaus showed that protective antibodies did not work against the dangerous P1 variant. The findings outline the shocking speed at which P1 took over - becoming the dominant variant in just eight weeks. The Covid-19 Genomics UK Consortium (COG-UK) said it is too early to say whether this would be the case against recent immunity developed from the Kent variant now dominant in the UK. A devastated mum has warned other parents after her IVF baby was struck with a rare condition in the womb which made surviving birth impossible. Amy Joyce, 24, was overjoyed when she was told she was pregnant with a little girl, having wanted nothing more than to be a parent.
