A popular footballer who died on his 25th birthday as he was getting ready to go on a stag do has helped save four lives by donating his organs. Carl Shenton suddenly collapsed from a cardiac arrest while still holding his hair straighteners at his family home in Kidsgrove. The chemical machine operator should have been travelling to Dublin to celebrate a friend’s upcoming wedding and his birthday but instead he was in critical care at Royal Stoke University Hospital. Tragically, Carl, who played football for Biddulph’s Roaring Meg pub, lost his fight for life surrounded by his loved ones on February 1 last year. His family bravely took the decision to respect Carl’s wishes to allow his organs to be donated. A MUM has shared her heartbreak after discovering her two-year-old son suffers from dementia. Rebecca Griffiths is coming to terms with the fact she will never hear her toddler Reggie talk after learning he suffers from an incurable degenerative disease. The 25-year-old from Knutton, Staffordshire, was advised to take Reggie to hospital after his slow development gave her cause for concern. Further tests revealed that he suffered from Sanfillippo syndrome, a disease that affects just one in every 70,000 children and is also known as childhood dementia. Rebecca said: “People ask me all the time how I cope and I just get on with things. This condition means they don’t live past 20. "Reggie’s brain is very damaged and so it may be shorter than that." A father-of-three who stabbed his pregnant wife in the back in front of their son while she slept on the sofa has been jailed. Rene Kouekham, 49, from Waltham Abbey, has been imprisoned for the jealous attack which saw his wife of 17 years stabbed twice in the back while their son looked on shouting “No daddy, no.”. Chelmsford Crown Court heard on Friday (May 25) heard that the terrifying attack to place at the couple’s home address on December 8, 2017. Prosecuting lawyer John Caudle outlined the details of the case, reports Essex Live. He went into the kitchen, got a kitchen knife, walked back into the living room and rolled her forwards before stabbing her twice.
