Archant A warning has been issued over scam letters which have been sent to Norfolk addresses claiming to be from the ‘International FIFA World Cup Online Lottery’. Bristol to bid to be a host for 2030 FIFA World Cup
Fans in Bristol spent much of the summer of 2018 believing football was coming home - but in 12 years time it could be doing exactly that - with Bristol hosting the World Cup. That is the dream from Mayor Marvin Rees, who has indicated he intends to throw Bristol’s football bobble hat into the ring to be one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup in 2030. The English FA has already indicated it intends to bid for the tournament, and Bristol could be one of the cities that host one or more of the matches. For a time during the group stages, Bristol could claim to have the nation’s biggest fan park - where 5,000 or more gathered to watch Gareth Southgate’s team get through to the semi-final in a valiant display. But in 12 years’ time, it could be a real World Cup game itself coming to Bristol. France's first victory in the FIFA World Cup took place in 1998 with the championship held in France, BelTA informs.The final match was played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on 15 July with almost 80,000 fans in attendance. Downing Street will fly the St George's flag for England's remaining 2018 World Cup games.
