Washington Wizards point guard John Wall tore his left Achilles tendon in a fall at his home and could be sidelined up to 12 months. Wall, 28, was already out for the rest of this season after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his left heel last month. He was expected to miss six to eight months recovering from that injury. But according to a statement from the Wizards, Wall ruptured his Achilles "after slipping and falling at his home." The rupture was discovered during a procedure to clean out an infection that resulted from the original surgery. Ironically, Wall had said that one reason he elected to have the season-ending heel surgery was to avoid suffering a worse injury. "If I don't want to deal with the pain or make it any worse and have an opportunity to maybe rupture my whole Achilles later down the road, you get the surgery and take it out," Wall told the Washington Post last December. Davis, now 17, has decided to attend Hampton University in the fall, her parents told the Philadelphia Tribune. It's been quite a whirlwind since Davis burst onto the national scene with her 70 mph fastball, leading the team from South Philadelphia to the storied tournament in Williamsport, Pa.
