Russian President Vladimir Putin has written to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, to suggest the two countries form closer ties. It is believed to be the first of its kind, incorporating an artificial nesting bank made of clay pipes and breeze blocks and a hide. Cameras inside the 150 nesting tunnels will transmit images into the hide. Tim Sexton from the nature reserve said sand martins had already started to arrive from sub-Saharan Africa. "They are the first of the summer migrants to return - it really signals the start of summer and the end of winter," said Mr Sexton. Attenborough Nature Reserve wardens said they knew badgers were there but had not been able to confirm sightings until a pair were captured on camera. Staff baited a log with peanut butter to attract the mammals. Tim Sexton from the reserve said: "It amazes me that on a site that's so well studied like Attenborough, we're still finding new things." Staff set up a trail cam by the baited log, after what was thought to be a sett, was spotted in an area closed to the public at night. Tim Sexton, from the Attenborough Nature Reserve, has recorded 203 species since January, 33 of which have never been found at the site before. The park, established in 1966 from gravel extraction pits, has attracted rare birds including the bittern. Mr Sexton said the challenge means looking for the least "sexy" organisms. About 2,650 species have been recorded at the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust reserve over the past 50 years, including many waterfowl, invertebrates, mammals like badgers , bats, and foxes. However, these surveys were performed by hundreds of experts which makes the challenge for one person, in just one year, all the more difficult. Oak processionary moths (OPM) were discovered in their larval stage on an oak tree near Clintons Hill, Bracknell. The area has been cordoned off and posters put up, advising people to not approach the site for their safety. The warning comes after an OPM outbreak was recorded in Greater London and the surrounding areas in April. A Bracknell Forest Council spokesman said it was working with the Forestry Commission to "control the spread of this moth and minimise the risk to the public". The Forestry Commission has advised that people should not to touch the nests or caterpillars or to try to remove them.
