If you thought Game of Thrones was violent… House of the Dragon has a horrifying scene where children ‘beat each other senseless’
While Game of Thrones was notorious for its jaw-dropping gore and violence, prequel series House of the Dragon will include a scene with children ‘beating each other senseless’. Last night, stars including Matt Smith , Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke descended on London ’s Leicester Square for the show’s fiery premiere , ahead of the release date on HBO in the US and Sky in the UK. Excitement is rife for the drama set 200 years before the events of the original, which happens to be coming out days before the launch of rival series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power . While on the House of the Dragon red carpet, Metro.co.uk spoke to showrunner, executive producer and director Miguel Sapochnik, who previously directed the acclaimed Game of Thrones episodes Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards, among others. Call Of Duty accused of ripping off Dr Disrespect game for newest skin
Activision and Call Of Duty are under fire again for plagiarism, this time seemingly copying a skin design from the Dr Disrespect game. Earlier this month, Activision was accused of plagiarising someone else’s artwork and adding it as a skin to Call Of Duty: Vanguard and Call Of Duty: Warzone. That situation was soon resolved, but now the company is facing the exact same accusations for another skin. This time, however, it hasn’t copied the work of a random artist but a design from Deadrop , the debut game of Dr Disrespect’s Midnight Society studio. More specifically, the new Doomsayer skin looks like a near one-to-one copy of a skin that is not only set to appear in Deadrop but is also used by studio co-founder Robert Bowling as his profile picture on Twitter. Coincidentally enough, Bowling used to work as a creative lead on the Call Of Duty series while he was at Infinity Ward. He left the studio in 2012 following the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 . … [Read more...] about Call Of Duty accused of ripping off Dr Disrespect game for newest skin
Games Inbox: The fate of Kratos in God Of War Ragnarök, Splatoon 3 concerns, and Wave Race 64 love
The Wednesday letters page considers the madness of video game release schedules, as one reader talks up the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. To join in with the discussions yourself email [email protected] End of the story They’ve already said that this will be the last Norse game, so there’s two obvious eventualities at the end: either Kratos is alive and ready to go take on a new pantheon of gods or he dies and his story comes to an end, with his son or someone else taking over as the lead of the series. Personally, I think Kratos is doomed. I hated him in the PlayStation 2 games but his rejuvenation in the reboot is some of the best writing I’ve ever seen in a video game, especially as his changing attitude took place in front of you, as you played, and yet it seemed very subtle and organic. Without even getting into spoiler speculation, I just don’t see him going on to live happily after ever or becoming some kind of avenging superhero. Nope, I think … [Read more...] about Games Inbox: The fate of Kratos in God Of War Ragnarök, Splatoon 3 concerns, and Wave Race 64 love
Dr Disrespect forms Midnight Society game studio with Call Of Duty and Halo developers
Former Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect has teamed up with ex-Infinity Ward lead Rob Bowling and Halo Infinite developer Quinn DelHoyo. Although nowadays he’s known solely for his brash streaming persona Dr Disrespect, Herschel ‘Guy’ Beahm IV used to be a map designer at Sledgehammer Games and worked on 2014’s Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare . After being banned from Twitch for still unexplained reasons (he now streams on YouTube), Beahm has often talked about setting up his own game development studio and now he’s done it, together with two other surprisingly famous faces from first person shooter development circles. Robert ‘fourzerotwo’ Bowling was initially the community manager at Call Of Duty developer Infinity Ward, before rising to the role of Creative Strategist and suddenly leaving the company in 2012. He later set up his own studio called Robotoki but it closed after just two years and initial game Human Element was never released. Up until this week … [Read more...] about Dr Disrespect forms Midnight Society game studio with Call Of Duty and Halo developers
Dr Disrespect game gets paid-for demo and it’s just a firing range
Gameplay footage of Dr Disrespect’s multiplayer game is making the rounds and it’s underwhelming for a supposed Call Of Duty rival. Although he remains a popular Internet personality, Dr Disrespect (real name: Herschel Beahm IV) announced he would be entering the world of game development last year with his own studio, Midnight Society . His first game, a vertical extraction shooter called Deadrop, is now playable via a private demo. Although maybe demo isn’t the right word since it doesn’t seem to demonstrate how the game actually works. Footage of the first gameplay ‘snapshot’, as it’s called, is being shared online and it consists entirely of a simple firing range, plus a small outside area that shows off what the city setting looks like. There doesn’t even appear to be any multiplayer functions, despite Deadrop being a multiplayer-centric game. All you do is shoot guns at stationary targets. It’s worth noting that this is an early build of the game and it’s … [Read more...] about Dr Disrespect game gets paid-for demo and it’s just a firing range
Chelsea fans furious at ‘clear exploitation’ £75 ticket price for first home game since March against Leeds
CHELSEA fans have responded with fury to the 'eye-watering' £75 ticket price for their return to Stamford Bridge. The Blues have been given the green light to welcome 2,000 supporters to their upcoming games with Leeds and Krasnodar. A ballot system will be deployed to dish out the tickets. But supporters were stunned by the jaw-dropping price tag of £75 for the West Stand seats opposite the dugouts. Some 1,600 of the 2,000 fans allowed in will have to fork out the fee to watch the Leeds game on December 5. The other 400 are to be housed behind the goal in the Shed End, where seats cost £40 each. Chelsea welcome Krasnodar to West London on December 8 and all tickets are set at £35 for that Champions League clash. Juniors, concessions and disabled supporters are able to buy a seat at a 50 per cent deduction. Leading the furious response were the Chelsea Supporters' Trust, who were left 'appalled' by the fees. They stated: "The club, in their wisdom, have … [Read more...] about Chelsea fans furious at ‘clear exploitation’ £75 ticket price for first home game since March against Leeds
Kurtag: Hölderlin-Gesange; Signs, Games and Messages; Pas à Pas – Nulle Part: Widmer/ Ardeleanu/ Orlando Trio
I f anyone needed proof of Gyorgy Kurtag's fondness for small, sometimes microscopic, musical forms, then this CD of three of his most recent works provides it. There are 59 tracks here, the longest lasting just three minutes, the shortest barely 30 seconds. The six settings in the Hölderlin cycle (five of poems by Hölderlin, the last by Paul Célan) were completed in 1997; the 34 separate pieces in the Samuel Beckett-inspired Pas à Pas - Nulle Part, for baritone, string trio and percussion, emerged the following year. And there are 19 miniatures taken from the collection of pieces for strings, the unfinished Signs, Games and Messages. As always with Kurtag, too, the patchwork of each composition builds into infinitely more than the sum of its parts. The unaccompanied settings for baritone in Hölderlin-Gesange make a seamless arch of incantatory, almost plainchant-like utterances that is broken only in the third song, when a trombone and tuba provide a fiercely baleful … [Read more...] about Kurtag: Hölderlin-Gesange; Signs, Games and Messages; Pas à Pas – Nulle Part: Widmer/ Ardeleanu/ Orlando Trio

‘Faith Was Number One’: Raiders QB Says He Wasn’t Allowed To Skip Church For Games | The Daily Wire
Las Vegas Raiders star quarterback Derek Carr talked about how growing up he was taught “faith” came number one and said he wasn’t allowed to skip church if games fell on Sunday because his parents “made the priorities, the priorities.” During the professional football player’s recent appearance on “The High Note with Tauren Wells” podcast , the 31-year-old opened up about growing up in Texas after moving there from California when he was in his teen years and admitted it wasn’t until he was in college that he made faith his “own.” “I was raised in the church,” Carr explained. “My grandpa was a pastor, my uncle was a pastor, my other grandpa was a deacon, my dad was a deacon, my mom’s a worship leader, my grandma is a pastor …” “My mom and my dad, they taught me that my faith was number one,” he added. “If there was a game on Sunday, as a kid, we always told my traveling coach, ‘I’m not gonna be there, I’m gonna be at church.’ They made the priorities, the priorities.” … [Read more...] about ‘Faith Was Number One’: Raiders QB Says He Wasn’t Allowed To Skip Church For Games | The Daily Wire
