A Conservative MP has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy and expelled from the party. Imran Ahmad Khan, 48, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court over the attack at a house in Staffordshire in 2008, when he is said to have forced his victim to drink gin and watch pornography. The boy said he wasn’t ‘taken very seriously’ when he made the allegation to the Tory Party press office days before Khan was elected as the MP for Wakefield, West Yorkshire, in the December 2019 general election. The Court heard how Khan forced the teenager to drink gin and tonic, dragged him upstairs, pushed him onto a bed and asked him to watch porn before the attack. Now 29, the victim told a jury he was left feeling ‘scared, vulnerable, numb, shocked and surprised’ after Khan touched his feet and legs. He said the future MP came within ‘a hair’s breadth’ of his privates, as he went to sleep in a top bunkbed. The boy ran to his parents and a police report was made … [Read more...] about Tory MP guilty of sex attack on boy after forcing him to drink gin

Why Shanghai has abandoned its ‘relaxed’ approach to Covid
By Wanyuan Song Published 1 day ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Related Topics Coronavirus pandemic Shanghai has announced its city-wide lockdowns will be gradually lifted from 1 June, after 15 out of 16 districts achieving "social dynamic Zero-Covid cases". China's biggest city imposed its first lockdown in the beginning of April, amid a surge in Omicron cases. What has happened in Shanghai? In spring, Shanghai confined some 25 million people to their homes. It previously tackled growing infection rates through smaller localised lockdowns. This typically meant individual residential complexes - each housing several hundred people - were locked down instead of the entire city. And for a while, it looked like this method was working. Even when case numbers rose to nearly 1,800 in March 2021, Shanghai did not impose a full lockdown. By … [Read more...] about Why Shanghai has abandoned its ‘relaxed’ approach to Covid
Can an act enter Eurovision more than once?
The UK is basking in the glory of its best Eurovision performance in years, after singer Sam Ryder finished in second place behind Ukraine at the contest in Turin. Sam scored an impressive 466 points for his song Space Man, giving the UK its 16th runner-up spot in contest history – although we’ve had a while to wait for that to happen, with 1998 singer Imaani being the last UK act to finish second. With the 32-year-old TikTok star having turned around the fortunes of the country on the Eurovision stage, following years of dismal results, it’s understandable many would love him to come back for another try in 2023. And he’s said he’d love to do it again , telling BBC Breakfast he would return to Eurovision ‘In a heartbeat,’ before adding: ‘I don’t know if I’d do it next year, I think I’d still be catching up on sleep. It is brutal, the schedule for Eurovision. But can those who have taken part in Eurovision before enter the contest for a second, third – … [Read more...] about Can an act enter Eurovision more than once?

Secrets and Lies in the School Cafeteria
Late on a fall afternoon, a skeleton crew staffed the cafeteria at New Canaan High School, in Connecticut. Custodial workers cleaned up the day’s remains while one of the cooks prepped for the evening’s athletic banquet. To hear more feature stories, see our full list or get the Audm iPhone app. A woman entered quietly through the back door, the one designated for deliveries and employees. Royal Family news- Prince Harry & Meghan ‘still pushing for royal life’ despite not wanting the ‘association’ with them
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are “still pushing for royal life” despite not wanting to be "associated" with them, a royal expert has claimed. PR expert Lina Citreon discussed the Sussexes ’ lifestyle choices with Christina Garibaldi on the latest episode of Royally Us. Speaking on Royally Us, host Christina Garibaldi said: “They [ Harry and Meghan] are one of the most recognisable couples in the world but they also wanted to straddle that royal life. “You know, when they were told they couldn’t, they’re still using their HRH titles and things, so it seems like they’re still pushing the royal life but don’t really want to be associated with it either”. Mexico City — The number of people reported missing in violence-wracked Mexico has exceeded 100,000, according to official data, with rights groups calling for "immediate" action from the government to locate the disappeared. The country's National Registry of Missing Persons — which has been tracking disappearances since 1964 — said that as of Monday, the whereabouts of 100,012 people are unknown. About 75% are men. Disappearances have skyrocketed in the wake of mounting drug violence that has rocked the country for 16 years. The Movement for Our Disappeared warned Monday that the figure was "certainly well below the number" of cases that are reported daily, calling for the government to "deal with this crisis in a comprehensive and immediate manner."
